Had the last rounds of pine to split and stack before I leave for a 10 week work trip on the 2nd of June. Had the trailer on the atv - split, tossed the splits on the trailer and moved to the pallets - went pretty quick. The photo of the stacks is missing three other stacks, but this shows the main work of wood I've put up since last October. Comes to 22 stacked pallets and 2 single 8' rows of rounds. Current tally is 52 pallets of wood put up - so getting very close to 5 years ahead. Spent the last 2 weeks dropping a lot of trees at my neighbors - 24 trees dropped so far - about 80% red oak. Won't be able to buck till I return at the end of summer. Still a lot more trees to drop. Will be posting some pics of that work in the next few days - hope to drop about 4 more tomorrow. Feels great to have the last of the rounds on the property done! Cheers!

Thanks guys! First 2 weeks will be just south of Ann Arbor moving toward the OH border, then the last 8 weeks will be in northern OH. Yes, it is a long time - hard to be away from the wife and kids. Cheers!

That's very impressive, I'm not either that far ahead or done yet for this year. The good news is that all my wood was either dead standing before I cut it down ( before sap started flowing) or cut up previously.

I've found some kinds of wood are much easier to stack clean and pretty.

I've got a couple of stacks on single pallets and I don't think that I'll do a single pallet anymore, making 4 cribbed corners for very little "free stacking"

True Horkn - cribbing the four corners takes extra time and doesn't leave a lot of space for easier stacking. I've become fairly fast at these - can put one up in probably an hour or so if the wood is right next to me. One thing I do like is the air flow I get around the pallets when I leave a good 3' or so between each stack - they dry super well. Plus, they sit so long, I like how this set up looks :). But....after putting up about a cord of single row rounds, and how fast that goes, I've wondered why I don't start doing that instead! Nice that you are getting a lot of dead standing - that is fun wood to work. Cheers!

Wow, I'm impressed. Sorry your job is taking you away from your family, and NH during what has to be the best time of the year to be in NH. At least you can Skype and stay in touch.
