PS dear male friend, that pic is one in a million......worth an enlargement for photo album or canvas wrap. Just sayin'....She's beautiful.....
Ahh, this was my first gun that I bought off an uncle. Has the removable 2 shot magazine, adjustable choke. Great for small game and a good slug shooter too! Brings back many memories!
We are suspecting that it is actually a 185, but previous owner aggressive with cleaning and removed most markings from the barrel. I get the feeling that this was previously a real rust bucket, but the price was right.
If anyone is interested, I assembled all the info I could find into a PDF since these were made before manuals..
Gave it a good cleaning today, completely disassembled the bolt, and lubed everything up. The bolt is a lot smoother now. I disassembled everything but the trigger actually. We are hoping the weather holds out tomorrow and we can shoot some clays tomorrow.
She did good, and the gun worked pretty well too. We had a couple shells get stuck in the ejector and another couple times the shells jammed on the way in but for a 65 year old gun I am pleased with the performance.
Awesome stuff there. Was she happy? that's the main point of this.. you should have fun when shooting. A brief critique- her shoulders and feet position look pretty good, about 45 deg. off-set. Her shoulder and hip/ vertical- could use an adjustment. She needs to lean forward a bit, set her arms/shoulders into a comfortable position, and pivot her aim point off her hips. Left shoulder before hip, an "aggressive" stance, lock the upper body and pivot from the hips. It works. Because of that stance and her stature, you'll probably have to shorten the LOP on that thing. That is a good thing, trust me. JB I'm sure there are lots of folks better versed on trap shooting than me that will chime in, I look forward to the input.
She had a lot of fun. The fact that she hit her first three cemented that. That photo was taken post recoil, so she's pushed back a bit. Also, not going to over correct her at this point-- she's having fun and that's what matters. She just wants to kill clays.
Having fun is what matters! I used to correct my wife's shooting position each time we shot together, but I found it just frustrated her even though she always was more accurate after I "fixed" her stance. Now I just make sure she isn't going to do anything that will get her hurt, and let her be for the most part.
What...you mean women don't like it when you kick their heels from behind and tell them to spread their legs more? ( I did that once. ONCE. Along with pushing her shoulders forward to get her to lean forward.) Just let 'em shoot as long as its safe. Griz, glad you 2 are enjoying it together
My wife's pretty good about keeping her legs spread. But I like to slowly push her stomach back and her shoulders forward. She just barely tolerated my adjustments to her shooting position when her stomach was flat, but now's she's pregnant and her belly is showing, and she's REALLY conscious about being touched there!!!
