Good point. I pretty much NEVER work on systems that are 3" past the tee and we have always sold 4" right off the back of the stove. It just works better at our altitude in the CO foothills. Most of our customers live at 5000ft or higher with the majority of them living above 7000ft even. The lint eater might be a good option from below if it's anything like my Sooteater. That thing makes a class A system look like a freshly honed engine block lol

Smoke, how is your leaf blower pointing horizontal? If I took off my pipe cap my leaf blower would be shooting straight up veritcally?

You use the suction side of the leaf blower. The suction side is on the bottom.

And if you use the fiberglass rods that screw together tighten them a bit more than finger tight, it's really inconvient when the brush unscrews from the end of the rods.

First of all, welcome to the forum.

As for the rods, just don't turn the drill on reverse....keep it spinning clockwise even while removing the brush. Another solution is to put duct tape over each joint as you add them, but that's a PIA.

I opened my first linteater recently, there was a large yellow sticker warning on the rods to never use it counter clockwise :)

i've seen comments of beer, maybe discussion of cheese might bring more around

I've never ran mine with the drill motor, just powered it by hand. I've had my stove since 2010 and brush the pipe a few times a year, never had an issue till late last season. I do have 2 90's after the T before the pipe heads up 22' thru the old chimney, might have been something with the 90's and things turning or i just failed to spin them together completely. No matter the cause it's an unplesant surprise to pull the rod out of the pipe and not have anything on the end, might even have been a bit of cussing involved. Retrieving the brush wasn't a big deal, a tin plate cutout about 3" diameter and feed the rods down from the top till it sticks out the bottom, attach the plate and pull it all back out the top. Now i do a light snug with a pliers as i feed the pieces up the pipe.

johninwi Just an observation.....I hope you're using 4" pipe throughout, cuz just with your mention of a T, 2 90's, and 22' of vertical, if you're using 3" pipe, your EVL is approx 26 or more...... :bug:

Yep 4" and it's double wall up the chimney not a liner, the pipe was cheaper than the liner and i've got a theory it probably cleans better or easier too.

Eaton, why doesn't your insert slide out?
