1/2" hole for the tubeless wheel/tire stems.
Drill , feed a wire thru the spout to the hole , pull it thru.
    (remove the core ;) )

I pick up Eagle Safety cans when I find them on sale. They work 100% better than anything plastic I've used.

You have to install the valve from the inside of the container.
the wire guides the valve into the hole from the inside, and you pull it up - out of the hole

That is a good idea, I'll have to pick one up. BUT, why doesn't Stihl (or other chain bar oil company) jus sell the oil in that type of bottle in the first place??? ;)

Too bad that can sucks as do all the new ones.

My new fangleded no drip or whatever diesel can doesnt drip. It also doesnt vent and takes like 7 mins to put 5 gallons in the tractor.

I still need to do the valve stem trick with an s empty valve stem to them all.

    Why???:loco:

I have searched pretty hard to buy some canadian gas cans and get them shipped back here to the US to avoid the crappy ones that are sold here. I dont think canadian tire shipped here or either the shopping was crazy. Id love to get my hands on some of the old school cans!

I like the first step of no fume cans. The vent is in the neck and they have the tiny yellow cap to keep from spilling. Not super fast better than those now.

I bought one of those type that are not CARB approved from sportsman guide when I ordered last. It leakes and I dont use it. It replaced a no spill cap that busted all to pieces. I use my old cap and just move it each time I pour the tanks.

Maybe we'll work out a trade on my next trip to SC ;)

Which cans are you referring to? The ones with the separate small vent?

Biggest complaint with our cans (likely like most of yours) is the having to unthread the cap, remove the plastic stopper, place the stopper somewhere you won't lose it:picard:take the spout out (get gas all over your hands), turn the spout around and reinsert it back into the cap and then thread it back onto the can...hopefully not screwing up the rubber O-ring at the base of the spout so that it doesn't leak. Now fill up something up at a rate of about 1/2 gallon per minute. After you have filled up what you are filling (and cleaned up the spilled gas cause it just keeps pouring), you have to repeat the process to seal the can so your gas doesn't evaporate. What's not to like...:D

and don't get me started on the vented spout styles:picard:

Have you tried a No Spill brand can? I like em better than the old cans. Not to be confused with other new cans. I have 4 diesel No-Spill cans and can drain one pretty quick.

I will have to get a pic of the one I like. They will thread closed like your talking about but u can also cap it and leave the spout up. I will get a pic.

There are some old style with a vent (biltz ) brand from the 90s that suck. They leak all over the place. I like the biltz or what ever the brand is that was made early 00 to the mid 00s. They have better seals. The old one leak no matter what.
Sure we can trade crap cans :)

I know the one you are talking about. I bought an add on spout for a 1 gallon can I have. They are handy. I have one on my 40:1 weed eater mix can. Only issue is they need to go on cans with separate vents and the capped spout is small limiting flow. Like I said, good for small fill applications.

Yea those kind are fine for small stuff up to a few gallons. But dumping 5 can still be tedious.

I have lost 2 of those yellow caps I think riding them on the trailer or rack or truck. Either got swollen in sun and blew of or just never tighten them and bounced off on trailer.

On the spouts I used to have, I found that a spent 20 GA shot shell fit perfectly inside the spout after I lost all my yellow caps.
