by the way , winchester has a 12 ga low recoil seven eights ounce target load in the double a line ,just an idea to try while your shopping for a twenty.

It's more about size than kick at the moment-- my gun is way to big for her. I'm 6'4 and she's barely over 5'.

Go with a youth model, Mossberg bantam, or the 870 youth, they are great for smaller stature people.

take a look at the mossberg flex system models all the stocks interchange so you can put a short length off pull stock for the mrs. and a standard if you wanted to use it , there are camo , black and pistol grip stocks available seems to be a versatile system

I bought an old single shot .410 a few years back as I always wanted one and I got a good deal.

If I were going to shoot mich I would lean toward 20. .410 is like $10 or more for 25

How much does that 870 weigh? I don't think the mossberg kicks too bad, but it's a big boy.

Its just a newer 870 super express. Takes 3.5s but will shoot 2 3/4 as well. Its synthetic stock.

Its too big for my wife as well. Shes 5'4" to give perspective.

    I am googling weight now

Remington .com says the 28" vent rib averages 7.5lb. So loaded with a sling your 8 pounds.

She is just shooting 1 or 1.25oz target/dove loads out of it. Not like shes shooting full 3.5 turkey loads out of it. The thing is a retina detaching device when loaded with 3.5s

the 410 is a lot off fun but is expensive to buy shells , its easy to find used mec 650 reloaders and with half oz loads a bag of shot lasts a long time . and if anyone is interested winchester has a rebate on double a shellls until the end off august .
