Yup......Ole' Betty and Lil' Brother all spiffied up and sleeping for the summer. Burning alittle propane a couple times a day.
It stayed pretty comfortable in the house last night, I didn't end up lighting a fire. It is a perfect temperature out today...windy too, so buggy but not too buggy. I wish we had temperatures like this more often. It feels like one of those cold windy August days when the north wind sweeps the length of the lake, creating three foot waves.
Well it was 48 deg. out 62 in with a cold north wind... wife had on a sweater so and here's a pic Oh cause most of those still burning, loon Sherwood and rottiman, are dog lovers that Shepard is our Lady, she's a 3 yo, rescue.. Good little girl loves the wife she waiting for her to return from shopping...
Down in the mid 20s last night. Burned some pine, some tamarack, garage floor sweepings and a seasons worth of bark accumulation from the bottom of the fire wood bin in the house.
Canadian Border VT, thanks for sharing the picture of Lady. Our dogs are such important members of our families. I'm sure her eager anticipation of your wife's return brings a smile to your wife's face when she does return....
Stove is going again for tonight. I was really hoping I was done but when I got home to a low 60* house and a night in the 30's coming I had to build a fire. Oh well I had only cleaned out the ash, chimney still needed to be swept so no big deal.
After several days of mid 80s we finally got a few nights with lows in the 50s and highs in the 60s. It felt so good to shut off the AC and open up that we have just been enjoying the cool sleeping weather. No heat for me on days like this.
Yeah she's our little girl... it's a funny story... I knew my wife for 20 years, she would not date me.. typical stubborn french Canadian, 6 years ago now her uncle died in orange county new York she had to go for a week for arrangements and asked if I would watch her 2 dogs bear, a golden and Sydney a black lab... now I had been trying to date this girl forever and she loved these dogs! They went everywhere with her! So I decided to date the dogs! So I got bear and Sydney for a week.. And I dated them.. I made bacon and eggs for breakfast etc, I live on a dog paradise 22 acres neighbors have 600 plus.. quarter mile drive to a dirt road. Bear liked to watch animal planet big cat diary in bed with me... When she came back the dogs did not want to get in her car to leave.. she came to visit them every day for a month then decided to move in.. plan.. implement .. success ! We have been married happily for 3 and a half years now... all because of good dogs.. Bear and Sydney were put down at 15 last June and we waited and talked about what we wanted.. I never picked my own dog.. I had my mother's when she came down with cancer.. then bear and sydney.. I wanted a Rotti, female big strong protective.. she wanted a big goofy friendly male.. .I am so glad she like that type .. we discussed and then her coworker who gets rescues needed a home for lady.. while trying to place her knew in first hour she was a keeper.. she been hit by men and a little skittish has separations anxiety and loves my wife and daughter.. she's small for my taste 65 pounds but she trying so hard.. She's ours here's a better picture
Word has it chief that Booms is getting a face shave this weekend Looks like Buds has it good man. And the heat is on right now gang!
Can't remember what night it was but we were down in the low 30's so we had one Hemlock fire an another the next morning over coffee.
Well, it hasn't quit yet! Woke up to snow on the ground (just enough to make it white outside). Car was covered. It did melt off pretty quick but sure didn't warm up all that much. Tonight, low to mid 20's! That'll take care of the couple of sticks I have left in the basement for the eldorado. The OWB is still fired up!
We have not had any snow, which is a very good thing because the plants that are up in the garden wouldn't enjoy that one bit. Was still 45 at 9AM though. We are supposed to have a few nights below 40, but no freezing forecast. The house is still warm. In fact, the third floor is downright hot. There are a ton of mosquitoes around, and many, many beautiful golden dragonflies. Last night I suspect the mosquitoes were coming down the chimney and out of the air supply of the stove. They just kept materializing. I was tempted to open a window and light a fire.....
Dang cold here this morning 35 after weeks of 70-80's feels downright frigid. Small fire in the TL-18 to take the chill off.
Just heard it is supposed to be 37 Thursday night, and a high of 50 on Friday. Guess the peppers don't go in until at least Saturday.
