When is burning season over this year?

    We do not have any set date for the last fire. My home can feel chilly even in the summer. I hope our last wood fire is last weekend, but I foresee the pellet stove running most nights this summer. I hope this is your last fire too, but don't hesitate to warm the place up if you two want to :)

    Yep I am still starting a fire in the wood stove at least once a day and sometimes twice a day. I am thinking sometime in June it will start staying warm enouph and then I will start sleeping in the basement where it is cool. Right now it is cold down there and I do not always run the stove down there.

    We can't help it, it is still cold here. Heck we just had that snow storm come through last week end, but I am hoping for June sometime. That is also when I usually start cutting beetle kill up in the mountains.

    We cut in designated cut zones in the national forest near Red Feather in Colorado for years, the last 1/2 decade or more was mostly beetle kill, still burned just fine. I scored 1 cord from Lory State Park years ago, but the remaining beetle kill trees to be removed all burned up a few years later in a forest fire. We moved to Wyoming, I think the national forest cut zones are much closer that in Colorado, but for our situation.......we installed a pellet stove Sept 2014, and its more convenient for us, though we still run the wood stove as well during cold snaps. I'd love to be 100% wood stove again, but at this point in time it's too taxing for me to stoke several times per day. Sigh. Hey, any idea what the price of pellets are in CHY?

    Be easy to let the gas furnace run for a while.

    Yep Got good dry wood,
    Wood is just feet form the stove.
    Hail & rain 45°,
    just added a 1/2 load :)
    Near ready to close the bypass.
    Check'n in while it gets up to temp.

    I expected a very cold spring with all the ice on the lake. Weve had nothing but south and east winds and its been close to miserable hot. 86 yesterday. That's unheard of here this time of year.
    Sunday I cleaned, oiled and put a bucket over the furnace chimney.
    DONE BURNING !

    The burning season will officially be over Thursday May 14th one second after my new Fireview is installed ... forcing me to wait 5+ months to have my break in fires :doh:

    I have no idea on the cost pellets in Cheyenne. My wife has a Nephew that burns in a pellet stove once in awhile, but I don't see him real often but I can ask. Heck I have not even had my propane tank filled since Nov and the price could have changed on that and I would not know it. The tank is still at 60% on a 500 gallon tank. They usually fill to around 80 to 85%.

    I haven't burned in over a month and have had the windows open the past couple weeks. I finally broke down after several "hints" from my pregnant wife and turned the AC on over the weekend when the highs were close to 90. Luckily it's cooled down to the 70's this week and I can open the windows again. Southern Ohio's spring and fall sucks, it seems like we normally only get a week of decent weather before it gets either really hot or cold.

    I haven't had a fire for over a week. Pretty sure we're done for the season. But I'm not holding my breath!

    Three weeks ago we had snow showers.....this past weekend it almost hit 90. What a wacky spring!!

    No plans to season it until next fall. Already getting too warm here ... AC kicked on twice already this spring. Thermostat is set to heat below 65 and cool over 74.

    Burned some scrap last night for about 3 hours,first fire in over 2 weeks.High of 52 yesterday,wind chill in upper 30's.

    Hopefully finally done now.Though last May 16th was my last (indoor) fire until mid October.

    my good buddy lives at 8800 ft elevation, and his themometer has not risen above 50 for a week. His burn season continues unabated. :coldfire:
