Mother Nature brought this down a couple of years ago, since it was off the ground I left it until today.

I ran the 310 with a freshly sharpened chain (the angle was 35 degrees) the saw ran great.

This one went real good, start cutting on the top side first (about 1/3 or even a 1/2 right before it started to close up) then from the bottom up.

I call maple a "mid-weight" wood-can't beat it for the drying time, temp and cleanliness...it's always welcome in my stack-middle stack is all maple-gonna front fill with the gnarly maple and the beech image.jpg

Sugar maple is the best out the maples, btu wise. It's as good as oak, but dries quicker.

It's usually pretty easy and nice to split, but they don't have ears, so they don't all listen to that adage.

It felt good to work in a flat area, we'll start hauling out of the woods this week.

We just moved the plow out of the lower part of the driveway so we'll use that area to unload the wood and split.
