Two Hikvision 3MP cameras were 323 each, and one Hikvision 5MP camera that covers greater distance was 711. 4 terabyte recorder was 542. Each camera has infrared capability so could maybe have done without motion sensors on lights. But wanted light to come on to give any knuckle head at least one last minute to think before stealing something.

Only downside thus far, large bugs can trip motion sensors and their motion also causes recording. But usually only a problem dusk till after midnight, then even the bugs seem to sleep. And assume of course no bugs after first frost to spring.

Hard to pass commenting on this one.
What a knuckle head neighbor to steal firewood. Firewood Bandit, I agree with you. Steal small things, larger things are coming later.
And yes, it is part of the mentality today,"looks like you have enough, I am entitled to some of yours."
I used to have a goof ball neighbor similar to this guy we are talking about and they are cut out of the same mold.
Like my old man used to say, " most people are nice. There are only 5 or 6 jerks in the world, (pause) the problem is they move around on you. "

WTF does that have to do with anything? He's retired...so he has a LOT more free time than I do...and I can put up 8 cord a year? Fixed income - so am I...I don't even need to look at my check stub to know what hits my account every month.

Lazy thieves pizz me off to no end. I would prosecute on principle.

How could he think you would not figure it out? And he lives next to you.

I think I might of sat there in the shadows dressed in camo or black and as soon as I saw the perpetrator I would rack one in the 12 gauge and saw hey what are you doing? After the camera caught it!!

Even as a joke I am not sure why any one would suggest putting something explosive in firewood, for one thing the possible injury does not do justice for the crime and you are the one that will more then likely end up in jail.
However if you could come up with something that would make the thieves house smell like a skunk that crawled out of another skunks ash I would be all for it.:D

If you want pictures, invest in a "game" camera for under $100.

I'm retired and on a fixed income and I've been cutting my own firewood since 2007. SS it too. And, moving it to the front of the house for easy access, then building my own shed. Heck, I've even used a wheelbarrow to move firewood when the tractor is out of commission.......over 200'.
Laziness is no excuse, and thieves are lazy.
I see so many people who don't have much of anything, yet they find money for booze and cigs..............
    I'll stop now.

If he needs assistance heating, there are programs available, this is not the neighbors personal obligation to keep him warm. Stealing not acceptable. Maybe someone should call the guys family to let them know if he needs help?

Dave, you would have a heartattack in colorado, the welfare money comes in debit cards. Some go to the atm and use the cash for gambling and marijuana.

Instead of black powder try softened Limburger cheese... I know that if you spread it on a car's air vents (by the bottom of the windshield, under the edge of the hood) it will drive the driver crazy.

Whatever his reason was we live on a small block and everybody helps everybody else, he shudda just asked...

Same here, but I was not aware they could be used to withdraw cash.
That's just plain stupid. I very heartily dislike stupid.
