It would depend a lot on the conditions of the bars and chains. If they're good that's worth $100 right there. If they're rusty junk its' nothing.

    There's a MiniMac and a Homelite 240 in there.

... they'd need to pay me to walk away.

Yes I agree.. Having a hard time getting the poster to respond to my questions on the condition. His posting is actually asking $300. Why do posters on CL have to be difficult?

Yeah, craigslist posters can be quite ridiculous. I pay attention to the "signs" and even if an item looks amazing, I remain prepared that the seller him/herself might make a deal unacceptable. This has saved me a lot of hassle on both the buy and sell. As a buyer I try to be fair and not waste people's time too.

I scored the other day - someone was selling a secondhand / unused MS461 for $800. I wanted this saw or a 661 but not immediately so I called just to find an excuse to myself not to buy it. Turned out to be a Stihl dealer who accepted it as a trade-in for someone who settled on a 362. The saw never cut wood, and so I had him ask Stihl if I would get a warranty (figured the answer would be no and I could cut the cord) but Stihl said yes! "Take my money" was my answer. So that worked out well.

My boss got a 461 last month for $950, which was a solid deal. I almost felt bad telling him.

I'm kidding of course, I didn't feel bad at all.

Homelite and Poulin, Old ones, I don't think I would risk it, but that is me. Save your pennies and get tools you know you can depend on.

There is nothing there that's really even fun to run. Unless you need something that's there, skip it.
