My $.02.......I've tested/burned all but the Spruce's but I would go with either LaCrete or Platinums......

Daffonce how many pallets are you looking for total? Keep in mind some of those come 50 bags per pallet and others are 60. I like variety so I'm going to recommend you go with at least two different brands here.

I burned almost 6 tons this year. I still have 1.5 in the basement. So was thinking 4 1.2 ton pallets or 5 tons

gbreda has burned both Spruce Pointe and Lacrete and gives the edge to Lacrete.

I would guess that all of those prices are for 50 bag pallets.

I've burned the Spruce Pointes and liked them a lot, but either those or the LaCretes would be my choice. If it were me, I'd do a split order and get some of each.

Yessir. Running great. Much faster too, since this has a faster bus speed and flash drive instead of hard drive. Has 8MB of memory in it, and another 4 is in the mail.
Got the hard drive out, and it's fine....put it in an external case as a spare drive. CD Superdrive is OK too...have an external case coming for that too....the newer iMacs don't have a CD/DVD drive anymore, since most everything is downloadable online.

It is what I would do also, however assuming this is the PD deal, I would go out of my way to choose the Lacretes over the spruce Pointes.

Been burning both the Spruce Pointe and LaCrete the last three years and have been happy with them both.

Just got an email from Robbie at Greene Team. The local Lowes near me in Newburgh, NY will be getting a shipment this coming weekend, or there abouts (projected shipping date is July 24th). They've been higher $$ in past winters, but with the price of other pellets, who knows this year.

Situation in these parts: Last year Lowes started the season at $4.99 for the regular stuff and $5.99 for the "elite" GTs. Then around the first week of October, they (along with HD and TSC) did a price increase. They went up to $5.58 and $6.99 respectively. Then some time later, January I think - the GTs dropped to $6.25, where it remains now. The regular stuff also remains at $5.58. They give 7% off the regular stuff by the ton so $259, and 5% off GTs if you buy by the ton, so they are $296. There's one independent dealer around here that sells GTs (under the Greene Gold name) and they, at least for now, are the same price as last year - $309.

Edit: Oops, sorry wrong info there on the independent dealer. They were $279 at the beginning of last season, so you hit the nail on the head with that one Steve! Up exactly $30! Ouch.

Biggest price increase I saw was at the box stores. Bargain brand went from $214/ton to $239/ton. So approx. $25 smackers over last season. The 2 pellet dealers seemed to be about the same or maybe a $10 to $15 increase during spring buys.

Keep your eye on oil prices. Predicted to fall through out the summer. Its a good bet oil will be below $2/gallon by fall. It has to have some ripple effect on the price of pellets down the road as many that have the oil option may just pass on pellets all together if not at least a rationed pellet with an oil kicker!!
