Dry as a pop corn fart up here as well. Already had a couple of fairly large bush fires in this area in the last week. Said maybe some on Monday but the rest of the week clear sunny and warm. Could be a bad summer.
Looking at our long range, next Saturday is our best chance for rain, 80 percent chance but that will change.
Agreed, after the winter we had here, you think the moisture would continue. We really could use some too.
75, sunny and a brisk wind blowing. Perfect recipe for sucking moisture out of the ground big time. I have a wetland swale in the bush that drains 37 acres behind my place that normally has water flowing thru it @ this time of year. Right now its bone dry.
We have a burn ban on until May 14 in New York State but people still burn, the people who are opening up their camps are burning brush, it's stupid. We have this on for our area. Things have dried up in the Southern Tier of NY. I mowed a field today that I couldn't even drive on 2 weeks ago.
We're supposed to get several days of rain this week. I think it will head east to buy at least some of you guys.

Cut two trees at the cottage ash and basswood. Got the basswood all cleaned up-meaning the tops are all burnt but for the ash, the tops are waiting to be burnt. Was wondering about the burn ban thing myself. Both trees are cut up and piled next to the splitter waiting for additional attention. The basswood will be used for campfire sales and the ash with be used for our personal addiction to heat during the cold months.
No rain for about two weeks here either. I look at it as being prime firewood drying weather. Low daytime humidity. Forecasted thunderstorms that never materialize. And there has more sun for my partially shaded stacks because the leaves are just fully opening now.
There's been numerous brush fires around here, and I know down around Smokinpiney there was some word of fires. The pines and Ft.Dix??
Yeah there were 6 separate fires about 15 mins north of me this morning. As of noon they were still working on them but the wind has picked up quite a bit since then. Hoping our guys have em under control by now. I know it's gotta be hard with the tinder box conditions. It's dry as a bone out here
In the span of 4 hours the wave of rain blew SE thru here and barely wet the ground. Temp. dumped 9 degrees in 2 hours but will be going back up and sunny tomorrow.
