Received a natural gas and electrical use report from our utility company today.

Nice to see how burning wood saves us money in a graph form.

Top dashed lines are show usage for similarly sized homes (top) and high efficiency homes (middle). The bottom line is our home.

    Take that Mr. Utility Man!

I was gonna say the same thing, a report like that may raise a small red flag and prompt a phone call or a piece of mail your way.

I have no clue how but mine always shows us as high use. They did just change my meter cause it was defective though. Maybe that's why.

I have a forced air hybrid furnace that has a fossil fuel kit. My system works as a heat pump until it hits about 37 degrees and then uses fuel oil for emergency heat. I used to burn around 600 gallons a season. I burned about 70 gallons two years ago and about 100 gallons this season. Burning wood has led me to substantial savings. It is a lot of work but I find that labor to be very satisfying.(With the exception of stacking).

Not sure but I heard they use a lot of electricity. Maybe vac inside the panels, exhaust and ducting and see if that helps at all?
