Let's get it started -- Fiskars x27 is a waste of money. Wood cut in the summer will be fine to burn by fall. Amsoil is the best oil ever and works great at 100:1
Well to keep the stove room at a toasty 74 and the rest of the house (mainly upstairs) 68 I need a pretty consistent 650-700. My VC is a tad undersized for the space its heating (1200 1st and 1200 2nd floor) it does a decent job and all but I think Im getting a Jotul or the Ideal when its released.
If you get a Jotul, go for the 3 cu ft stoves. The Oslo will NOT improve your situation. But, yes, you really need a larger stove.
+1 (except it will melt your face off and cause a coronal mass ejection of the nearest star) ( oh, and cats don't like it)
JØTUL F 50 TL? I was looking for a single door w/o top loading but will sacrifice something for single door operation.
I would go with the F55 since I heard the top load of the F50 isn't that usable, especially when coming from a VC stove. I love the top loading of the VC stoves, but front loading works just as well.
Sucks to have single digits cold this early in the heating season. I actually stepped up to loads of ash instead of the soft maple/cherry I've been primarily burning to this point.
