I clean the Slot and holes out of the bar quite frequently and Grease the front sprocket. I had to run a saw a few days ago, And man the oil was like honey, So I decided it was time to get some canola oil. If I didn't trust you that it works I would never have even bought it
I just used Stihl winter bar oil for the first time yesterday. Oil jug was outside all night at 10℉. Poured great and was using about 3/4 tank of oil per tank of gas. Used about the same amount as the orange jug in summer, but more than double the oil of the orange jug stuff in winter. I like my chain zinging and slinging.
I think you'll like the canola oil it, I have the veggie oil too but it will thicken up to much during the winter.
I may try it too. We're on the last jug of Stihl but I've gotten a lot of it free! It pays to know someone who still works in the woods. The cutters just throw the jugs away and never try to drain the last of it out. So, we got the leftovers free. But, friend now retired so I'll have to buy something. On the oil, we simply keep the oil indoors and take it outside only when we are ready to cut. It takes several hours before it thickens but then warms right up quickly in the saw. If it gets too thick, I'm ready to quit anyway.
