I try to keep my "friends" list to around 100, and unfollow anyone who posts pictures of their food, links articles like "20 ways to know you grew up in the 80's" or "10 reasons that Ohio is the BEST state to live in", flirts with their wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend online, or shares deeply personal things that have no business outside of your immediate family. That seems to cut the people on my feed down to around 50 or so.

I do like political discussions though, I find it very entertaining to watch someone present a well thought out idea or article containing facts and a solid plan, and then I try to guess how many posts until the "other" side starts the name calling because their counter argument doesn't have a leg to stand on.

It definitely has its purpose, that's why I didn't totally disconnect from it.

Yup. I've 'deactivated' my account a couple of times. Turns out I still use it as a line of communication with a few friends: my GF, volleyball team, hair dresser, etc. So it stays active now but I rarely go on there. I have you guys now! :)

I can't stand FB now - I fear for our future, and not because of the 'OMG it's the apocalypse' and 'the end of the US as we know it' folks. Any remaining traces of original thought have apparently been erased from FB. It's all cat videos and political memes and praise Jesus by liking my FB status. The political 'discussions' could be mildly entertaining, for about 5 minutes, but it quickly becomes clear that 99% of it is just people repeating what they heard on their favorite "news"/infotainment TV station. I take more of a "none of the above" approach to politics.

Weird-- I've only had about six requests over the last several years where I haven't known the person.

I'm sure there were people on the list I had known too... and didn't want to know again.

I get requests almost monthly from random people. It seems a lot of them are local single moms that are friends of friends of mine. Or distant relatives that I've never met (or just don't care to stay in touch with).

No FB for me, I've got FHC! It is a much more positive place, and I've said it before, but you guys and gals motivate me to be a better person. Lot's of great folks, even that Shawn Curry who builds a helluva sawbuck!

Don't you have those in IA? I thought they still needed to trim the sides for a mullet? :p

I formally request an appeal of my 'man card' suspension...

In Iowa you usually sleep with your hair dresser every night. Or at least I do.
