Like .325 should, vague I know. I liked the saw with 16" 3/8 myself. But some folks like .325. I was challenged to find a drum I could put on it and use .325 chain. Then the guy laughed. It took me all of 5mins to find a drum that would work with a rim. I got the last laugh and he has hated me since and I dont care one bit.
The reason why I wanted to find a .325 option for 5020 was for folks that might want to buy one that way. I used to set the poulan 330 up with 3/8 and .325 and let guys test them back to back. Some bought the 325 ones some bought the 3/8.
Well I was thinking I could use the same set up as the 445 and swap things around. I might pick one of them up sometime Black Friday or something they have refurbs on eBay for 140 shipped I wish they would offer them with a shorter bar though, I know why they sell them with the 20 inch bar though people think its better if its got a bigger bar
The 5020 is a great out ofthe box saw.. I seen your PM Kim, but I have been in Iowa for several days at a GTG and the Poulan was gone before I seen your PM. I apologize.. It was 11.5 drive home today and I will say I am 100% going to Oakfest 2016 next year. It will be it's 6th year and what a great time. Majority of members were AS members. But quite a few were FHC. Hedgerow, sam-tip, JRSDWS, maulhead and a few others were there (sorry of I missed ya. Doug your toys, er, I mean Tools... Are top notch brother). Highly recommend this GTG to anyone. Was a great time.. If your are east of my place, meet me here and we can go together. It's a little over 10 hours there (time loss) but over 11 hours home (time gain).
No need to apologise; I was away part of the time during this thread at my friend's house and there is no internet service there. It is OK I would kind of like to stay around 18 inches; I need a saw that I can handle; too heavy and I won't be able to really handle it and if I can not handle it will mean that I am more likely to get hurt.
You should not necessarily be looking at the length of the bar but at the weight of the saw. Not a lot of options really for $200, Maybe someone here can hook you up with a good use Saw but if you step up to $300 for a new Saw or a used saw there's a lot more options. Here is another option for you take a look http://www.vminnovations.com/Browse_560/Chainsaws.html?sort=&show=40&page=1&manuf=0&pm=17&px=455&attr=yes&xattr_Power Source=Gas&gclid=CjwKEAjwvPepBRCoqo37teOD1XsSJAC7v6WQHrzYNGfyIyzNY_d5VjedFaHZcLA0CjraBYcFOPnpWBoCd07w_wcB
My friend is coming back down around the second week of May and will be bringing three of his saws; he is going through them and making sure they run smoothly, so I can see the different weights saws and how they handle. That will give me some real experience and at the same time we will be cutting firewood. I can get an idea of what I need to be looking for so I have more time to find a good saw. Yes, I guess I need to see if I can come up with more money; I still have to buy more chimney and build the hearth for the stove.
I have a husky 445 that I think needs to leave. It may hit the classifieds at some point. It looks rough but runs fine every time I have used it.
