    Rode 30+ miles.
Got above 50° & light wind,
Felt good to be in the sun
& was able to go with only 3 layers on :)

That's where the good picture angle was.
    +
Brand new paved bike trail there too , on a 6" curb above the road.

Typically I ride the shoulders but when there's good bike path,
I try to use them as long as there's not several crossings & intersections.

Funny this thread goes up, I just got a new hybrid trail bike this spring.
My schedule and the weather hasn't cooperated much but I'm feeling the itch.
    Nice post Dave, great pics...

I got a mt bike 29er in March.
Never thought I'd like riding distances but having fun with it & a great way to get low impact exercise.
Did 30 yesterday, few top layers & cycling padded shorts & riding pants.
Wind picked up on the way back.
Great going down hill with the wind , hit 29 MPH :) , uphill &/or into the wind, a good workout.

Wife say my clothes don't match
Told her it makes me very noticeable, a good thing on the roads

And those 29" wheels should make it better for distance riding. Just a tad harder on climbs though. Beautiful bike for sure.

Heavier for sure, but comfortable & absorbs a lot of the road shock.
Lock out front shock for when I need to stand up to pump going up hill & Hyd disc brakes.

Did 40 miles today, longest so far,
    Got some good pics
    Will post a few later

    One more pic
    looking up river
Can see the trucks, camper & trailers in the background.
ATVs riding the gravel bars on the Knik R , they go up river to the glacier this time of the year when the water is low.
When it warms up the water level comes up due to snow & glacier melt higher up in the mts.
Valley on the left is the Matanuska glacier & river (just left of the handle bars) , to the right is the Knik glacier/river
The 2 rivers join a few miles down stream of here.

awesome pictures. Does the snow ever leave the mts over the summer? We have a couple across the water that keep just a little bit on top.

Every time I see the pictures it makes me want to go back. Hard to believe but it was 1977 when we were there. No doubt much has changed.

Can always see some snow, last year the close ones were almost bare
but up the valleys, always snow & glaciers.
