What the heck?? 30 tonight???

I ran out of wood in the wood shed 2 weeks ago, just in time for it warming up finally. I haven't had a fire in 2 weeks. It's been 50's or better since, too warm for me to fire it up. And since the hearth is empty, my porch/deck stack is empty, and the woodshed was empty, I assumed the season was over!

BANG! Last night it hits 39, and tonight expected to be in the low 30's! What the heck is going on? I almost pulled the chimney apart and cleaned it for the season last week. I actually re-loaded the woodshed for next season last weekend.

Now I have to go and scrounge for some wood in the stacks to burn for the next few days!

It's almost MAY for gods sake, is this what they meant about "global WARMING"???

 

Kinda fun to go digging for a load of dry wood for tonight I bet.... Might be the last fire for a while.... It's a little cold here but sunny so the house is warm.

I pulled out 10 pieces of shoulder wood for a fire tonight. I haven't burned in 3 weeks, but it seems like yesterday.

 

I'm not out of wood...
I'm also not out of oil....letting the furnace do the work till the warm up comes

 

That's not a bad idea at the price of oil today. Cheapest it's been in YEARS!

 

I ALMOST built a fire the other night. If i had some good kindling I probably would have. But then I thought, nope....the furnace needs a little run time...just to make sure its in good working order

 

Getting soft, huh? We had low 20's last couple of nights and again for tonight. Still running the OWB.
When we get to the cottage, the first thing we do when the unloading is done is to fire-up the nc-13. Nice!
In unrelated, I tried one of drew estates java cigars. Nice, even 99 enjoyed the smell! Still working on the tabak especials though.

 

You light up AFTER unloading?? I'd fire it up FIRST!

I've had those, but they don't even compare to the Tabak !! Go get one of those, they are REALLY good! Should be able to find them at any local chop, seems everyone carries them around here....

 

Mid 60s here today, warmest day so far this year
to be mid 30s tonight.
Still have a fire, but had to open the doors for a bit in the afternoon. (Mosquitoes found the opening)

Yeah, I guess I have to cry "uncle" as well--only because my winter clothes are getting ragged, and my spring clothes are getting dry rot.

still burning here 30s, at night spitting snow now but slowing down on wood use wanting to go css, but too muddy... my last wood on deck down to half a face cord. should be enough it's almost may but remember this is a Vermont face cord 7 feet tall 16 inches deep and 16 feet long. mostly sugar maple. my logger is dropping me 3 cord.
