This was a little scary. http://www.kshb.com/news/health/new-tick-borne-virus-discovered-after-the-death-of-kansas-man
I make my own tick/chigger spray from a product called happy Jack kennel dip (permethrin concentrate). I forget the exact ratio but it seems to work great! I use it throughout hunting season (it's water based and odorless when dry) and spray my boots constantly during spring and summer. The ratio I use ends up being a tad bit more potent than the store bought stuff. It's wayyyy cheaper than blowing through cans of sawyer or duranon.
Even though I used some tick spray on my clothing today, when I got in the house all my clothes went in the dryer on high for a good 50 minutes an then I took a good scrubbing in the shower. I talked to a guy who cuts wood today about ticks, he got nailed twice last year, once in the bag (excuse me) and then the bastage nailed him (his words) in old bart, he had to have it removed at the hospital.....the good news.....the nurse was a friend of his mothers.
I bet that tick would've thought twice about that if'n he was using viagra! But it could've been worse-take a look at the pic of this dog's ear! Now that's animal neglect!
That dog looks like a Coyote? Catch pole on it's head When I found Billy Bob I removed ~60 ticks from his ears
I got my first one of the season on Saturday. As much as i hate using pesticides with kids in the house, the last couple years Ive started spraying the backyard to keep the bugs down. Need to do it again this year.
