Well today was payday and my old saw was done for. Gotta go cut up some free wood tomorrow so I packed my lunch and saved my money. Got a new poulan 5020av. Really wanted a stihl but just couldnt make it work. You know mortgage, groceries etc. Went to lowes and got this. Started 3rd pull out of the box. So far so good.made some test cuts on some maple rounds I have laying around. Cutreal good. Pulled strong idled well. Re started when hot etc. Will take it easy on it tomorrow . Run a couple of tankfulls through it taking it easy. So far I am cautiously optimistic. Will post results and loaded truck pics tomorrow if everything goes good.
Congrats on the new saw! Enjoy,, nothing like a brand new saw Looking forward to pictures, of it's 1st load.
I got mine from Lowes as well. When you need another chain, try ebay, you should do better than Lowes. Congratulations, I hope it works well for you. Decide before 30 days, it gets more complicated returning it after that. Greg
Am I missing something here? The only reason I could see returning an item after it was used is if it failed due to a manufacturing defect within the warranty period.
+1 good sharp chain best upgrade to make to any saw After all, "it's just firewood" Did I say that ? LOL
Well had full day of cutting see loaded truck pics in other section. Saw worked flawlessly. So far am impressed. A lot of saw for 200.00
This saw really impressed me today. Cut a lot of wood. Idled perfect. Started easy cold. Started easy hot ( although there is a learning curve) really stepped up and did a good job.
Had a remington/mtd. 55cc sawwith 20 inc bar. Still runs but needs new oil tank and recoil. Bought it on price alone several years ago. All plastic. Cut a lot of wood with but not a lot of research. Poulan while I am still shopping price hassome goodreviews. I am a little more educated now.
Lowes return policy - "Customer satisfaction is our goal. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, simply return the merchandise to any Lowe's store in the U.S. within 90* days. We, in our discretion, will repair it, replace it, or, based on your method of payment with a valid receipt, refund your money." Chainsaws are an exception, only 30 days. That is all I am saying. It is not right to abuse their policy, nor is it wrong to take advantage of it when you are dissatisfied with your purchase. Greg
Congratulations man, I still wish I had bought one of those when they were a hundred sixty five bucks brand new , $187 on Amazon right now free shipping even at 200 it's a good buy
The way I look at it is if the saw doesnt have any defects, and I take care of it maintenance etc and dont abuse it and I get just plain lucky, I get 5 yrs out of it. For 200.00 money well spent. Maybe I am looking at wrong but on paper seems ok.
I am a year and a half into mine, and it is doing great. Maintenance so far: The rope broke once. I put a zip tie around the air filter, as it does not fit as snug as it really should. Others have reported the same, you may want to check yours. Some silicone theirs on, I prefer my method. The sprocket is looking bad, I need to replace it soon. Normal chain maintenance and cleaning. Mixture adjustment after about a year of use, it was running a little too rich on the high end. Oh, and the chain tensioner broke once when a bonehead forgot to tighten the nuts. Today I tore through an impressive amount of logs with it. Greg
