This is some of the downed wood or topped off stuff I'll grab first, things are dry back there but not much damage from the winter. The last picture is the Maple we pulled out of the Brook last fall.
Looks like a lot of nice wood for the taken. I think I saw a cherry in there too, couldn't quite make it out. You got pretty close to that deer too! Post some pics of the finished products..
Looks like the warm air hit you this week as most of the snow is gone. That is good! Strange that you say dry. Seems we're hearing that from all over the U.S. Makes one wonder what the summer will bring, but things can change mighty fast.
Pics 3,4 & 5 are all Cherry, the bigger ones I didn't get pictures of. I'll be hitting a few hills looking for downed Beech once I make sure the trail is clear from fallen trees..... I would hate to back down the one hill because I never checked it before I made the run. We saw 10 - 12 deer on our ride, about 5 young deer that made it through the winter. When we got back home we had another 14 out back.
We usually have two areas that you would never go through this time of year (both areas usually are flooded) one area was dry and the second had some sitting water in the low spots in the trail but nothing bad. One area is by what I call the swamp and the other area usually still has water draining from the big hill, not this year. The picture is of the trail coming in, it usually is a little muddy but not this spring. The last picture of the trail near the swamp can have a good 10-12 inches of water on it if we get a hard winter snow wise.
I've been getting a "dry" rain for the past 5 days Then it went to pouring this afternoon, we've had 2"+ since 4pm Better than the alternative of what they have going on in California
Got half the garden planted and then it started before noon - safe to say the maters don't need a watering in. Moved back inside and started painting some trim. When I get some of the projects that need done wrapped up, the saws & splitter will be getting a workout
The biggest Cherry are on a different hill, if I remember we have about four of them. Tomorrow I'll check a trail to see if it's clear, I think we have a Beech down up there which I would like to get in the next two weeks.
The 2 big ones look like sugar maple. Does the high stump belong to the cherry? How did the maple hold up being in the water? Great pics!
Well looks like you got your work cut out for you some good BTUs there. Many places around here that are usually pretty soggy at this time, are dry, some pretty windy days and not that much rainfall
HD, I was going to get back by the creek to see if the water went down but just haven't got there yet. However, a neighbor told me the water is just about disappeared. We are very dry for this time of the year.
This is some work I did today, 1,3 & 4 are Cherry and 2 is a Maple. If the weather is good tomorrow I'll get the other Cherry, #5 in a pic. All wood supplied by Mother Nature.
