Welcome. I have only been on FHC for a month or so, but I feel right at home-it's the most pleasant forum I participate on.

To me the second looks the same as PalletPetes in his one thread today.

    Welcome to the forum Will.

Sometimes that box elder seems too pretty to burn. Some have made some really neat bowls and other things from it. On that second wood, I have to admit I'm stumped.

Welcome Will. The second pic looks like soft maple. Any flecks in the grain?

Ah, there is no shame in buying wood either. I don't have much time nor any acreage to cut my own. I scrounge when I can. I may not be totally self sufficient, but having a second source of heat is what is important to me.

There is a good group of like-minded folks here. What amazes me more are the members willingness to help one another at the drop of a hat.

That's flamed boxelder and a great example of some highly desirable wood!
Sells for a very good buck too for wood turners.

If you have some not split yet you may want to consider selling it. It's worth a great deal more than firewood. Bigger the pieces the more it's worth.

Google it and check some wood turning forums or eBay to see what I'm talking about. Even the split pieces can be sold for pen blanks etc... I would not burn it, and that's a true firebug talking.

Second set of pics looks like maple.
