Finished up my 3rd stack on the south side of the garage. Took a big bite out the ash in my pile so far. I'm going to be well short of finishing a fourth stack, but I have another behind the garage that I've been raiding lately and that should top it off.
Those are first class stacks Shawn! Getting close to the better part of a seasons worth of wood in those stacks alone...?
Thanks! I wish that was enough! There's better than a cord there, but I went through 5 this year - it's my sole source of heat. I have a 1980's vintage non-cat stove which I'd like to upgrade in the next couple years, and hopefully reduce my usage. Won't reduce the size of the hoard of course, I'll just be further ahead.
Looking good Shawn....ash is a wood I never had much of until the last couple years and as many others always say....darn nice stuff.
A thing of beauty !!! Doing a great job ! Be prime burning wood when the time comes. Great pictures Notice you stack the center between the rows full. Is the wood already pretty dry ? or just your method ?
Thanks! It's from a couple standing dead trees that have been cut into rounds since last fall. Ash seems to dry pretty good in the round, and I think the summer sun will do the rest. This is one of my best stacking locations - south facing, direct sun all day long. So I jam packed it.
Oh man, nice stacks and that sounds like a great plan. I'm in the same situation you are. I may have to use that line of reasoning on the wife when I want a new stove.
