I'm in a spot ladies and gentleman, and I need some help. Last fall, my GF moved in with me which is 2 hours away from her hometown. Her 40th Bday is next month, and I don't know what to do. To my knowledge, since I don't facebook, none of her friends will be doing anything for her due to the distance. She only knows my neighbors, and her coworkers here.

WTF do I do? Don't women hate the whole turning 40 thing? Don't women also hate it when you don't celebrate their birthday? She has already made the comment (I'm sure she thought I wasn't listening),
"I wont be doing anything for my birthday anyway" in response to some other context or question. I didn't respond since I figured it was a trap/trick question.

Since her B-day is normally right around the Kentucky Derby and she's a Derby fan, in the past, we have went to the nearby horse track, watched some races and the hit the casino for a little bit with a cab ride home since horse racing and booze go so good together. 2 of the past 3 years this has been the plan. Last year, we agreed to not celebrate Bdays, and we went to Vegas instead of blowing $ on gifts etc.

I've got a good feeling that none of her friends will do anything which leaves me as the party planner

Sooooo FHC, what would you do?

Same old trip to the horse track?
Stay home, cook dinner and drinks, and enjoy an evening with the only people she knows up here (my neighbors which are good people)
Go turkey hunting and leave her alone to realize her friends suck? Ok, not really, but it IS an option. :zip:
Something else. I'd love to hear any ideas from y'all!

    Help!

Right where I want to be.
Two hours away isn't very far.
    Go see the relatives.
Or, cook her a nice dinner, and give her a back rub/foot massage.

Light a fire, open a bottle of wine, some stinky cheese and a bearskin rug. Then you show her the magic and make her feel like a teenager again.

I don't know her, but my wife is a social creature. I'd be planning something back home and make up a story for the 2 hour trek... surprise her.

OK folks, I understand the whole take her home thing BUT....No way to get ahold of her friends, and no family lives there anymore. Its just some friends that are more off than on if you know what I mean.
The friends that she really likes, are scattered all over earth, tied down with kids and family, and not all located in 1 place.

    Well then, that changes it.
Do the dinner/back rub/foot massage thing. Make sure she has a glass of wine in her hand (if she drinks), and leave the bottle.

What ever you do, make it special. Do not know which side she stands on the turning 40 issue, but most women are hormonal about things like turning 40. If it is a work day, flowers arriving @ work always is a "Addaboy". Gets all the other hens there clucking about what a great guy she has. Nice quiet dinner @ a special eatery followed by time making her feel xtra special for the "once only" occasion. As for the turkey hunting gig, unless you want to spend a whole lot of time having your right hand wax your bow, I wouldn't advise it........................................

The turkey hunting was merely a joke. I know better. The running joke is that I have 3 weekends to hunt turkey in Indiana. Her bday jacks one of those up every year, and mothers day jacks up the last one. Needless to say, I only hunt turkeys one weekend.
As far as waxing, :zip: . Keep the ideas coming please.

First off, don't say anything about asking for help on a wood cutting forum on what to do for her birthday!
Then, don't knock her over with big plans, she'll wonder what is going to happen next year.
Finally, consider trading her in for two 20 year olds!

Sounds like you be would be better off concentrating your efforts into turning her into a turkey hunter.

Seriously, for some reason, women like to be surprised at work. Maybe a bouquet of flowers or balloons or something that will notify everyone around them that it's her special day. Now if she doesn't have a job, that scratches that idea.
Women also like to go out to eat dinner. Probably their favorite thing. Try to avoid anything that you kwould share joy in such as gambling, hunting, fishing, new chainsaw, etc. Wouldn't go over with such a big hit as doing something selfless for her. Home cooked meal-quiet night? Nice, but you can surprise her with that anytime-just as long as she continues to keep coming home after her birthday!

Don't go overboard, then she will always expect it. Take her out for a nice meal and then give her a back rub and then 3 minutes in Heavan. That's it!

Pick a day when she doesn't have a lot going on and arrange for her to get a mani/pedi. You drive and drop her off. Pick her up with flowers in hand.

Take her home and tell her to get dressed for a night out to Harry and Izzys for drinks and a meal.

Take her back home and end the night with wine and massage.

Key to it is making her feel pretty. . Manicure...show her off on the town will do that.

    Yes, and Yes. Sorry.

Also, what if you asked her?
