I dunno about trying to blow mine up, but I am going to make them run as best as I possibly can.

OK my 4518 just came!! Its in like new or new condition. Has an oil stain on front muffler like it was test run. There is no scuffing on handle, no dust or chips, don't think its ever been in wood. Was not inn the original box. Chain and bar were brand new. I also got a scrench and instruction book with it.

I am resisting the urge to fuel it up even though brought fuel with me to work to try it. I want to see compression first. IMG_20131206_095104.jpg IMG_20131206_095010.jpg IMG_20131206_095114.jpg

The price increase and most of us who got saws this week had brand new ones I wonder if these are just new saws that had damaged boxes or just new. And there just selling with no warrenty. How much can this saw cost them when they get a container load? Shipping prolly costs $20 so there netting $28 at the oldprice and a bit over $30 at today's price.

Something I find odd as many of us hereand AS that are ordering things as well as the rest of the web (assuming every chainsaw nut is not on these 2 boards? ) my order numbers were not that far apart.

I ordered midday Monday and again last night. My order numbers were only seoerated by 28?

To get good and accurate compression numbers Clem, your gonna want fuel (oil) in there. 32:1 mix will yield a little better compression. A dry cylinder will give you false numbers.

And I know you love our Forum, and I appreciate the plugs over there. But if you read their rules, it's against them, to post links or plugs (unless deemed necessary) to other Forums. So be careful and tread lightly my friend.

Sorry u know a mod there? Tell them to delete it.

Not trying to throw u under the bus. I hate places that are so up tight about that. Do they think people are gonna leave the largest chainsaw board on the net?

I'll pm a mod to remove it. Who is a mod? I cant see them on TT I don't think?

All 3 of mine are runners and cut wood.

The 41cc needs the carb adjusted, will not hold an idle. The 45 and 38 run as good as can be expected, mufflers definitely seem constipated but on the plus side, they are real quiet!

I put the pics uo from Dex and Iron to show that its not a signal issue that pics are loading but for some reason h2h s are not?? Maybe the type pic??

Mine ran out of the box, but seems way too rich. I'm going to mod the muffler and see if that helps it out some. I want to do that to it anyways. :)

Do you think the cs4518 will have more power than my Stihl 023?

I've never used an 023. I cut with my 'quake for about 2 minutes. It did an OK job but could be better. I was happy it ran, but I did flood the heck out of it when I was starting it the first time. :)

I'm sure one of the Stihl experts who is dabbling in the quake world can give you a better idea than I can.
