A mix of rain/snow tonight with a temp of 35, at the end of the second period I'll start a fire for tonight, cherry.
The wind is really whipping up a storm. Loud enough in here to have the dog convinced something is not right out there. We just had to go for a walk and assess the situation. On a positive note, the stars are beautiful tonight. I love windy days, but don't relish walking in the dark when it is this windy. Always afraid a large branch will come down, and I won't see it until too late.... It's still quite mild out. Hard to believe it will snow tonight.....
Outside temp is 40* and the IS just levelled out for cruise overnight mode with w.ash, white oak and a black locust. An occasional aurora borealis appears in the stove where the intake is set right now. There's a day bed in the downstairs where the stove is and you can see right into the stove from that bed. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
+1c now I didn't put much of a fire on before bed and was kinda chilly when I got up awhile ago. Elm is ripping now!!
It's 34.5 this morning.........spitting snow at the moment. Last night I went with the pellet stove because the winds picked back up. Back to burning cherry today.
33 here also. Mishmosh of little uglies with 20lbs of coal. Yesterday morning we had cold 40-60 MPH winds and downpours off the lake. Lots of uncovered by the snow chit blown all over ! Not uncommon this time of year and to be expected with the full on ice. In the afternoon it cleared off sunny and warmed up. Beautiful sunset. Welcome to the land of lake effect. It's not only lake effect snow but weather changes FAST!
44º outside and heading toward 35º. Just lit one off at 9:30 with some ash and silver maple small splits, got up to temp and engaged the cat. Have some red oak and a piece of locust going in here soon for overnight with the blower on low.
Limbed and cut a lot of sapling trunks today. Some are very wet, and had buds breaking on their limbs, despite being cut last year. Two 4 inch Ironwood saplings were long dead. One had ants in part of the trunk. Those two I put aside for current burning, and the ant infested one is in the stove as we speak: roast ants. Was in the high 40's today, and the house stayed quite warm all day....got down to about 65 this evening. Started the fire about an hour ago, and we are a toasty 73. We had viscous wind last night. Went out this morning to find my windshield cracked. Just what I needed. .
windshield cracked, that sucks the only problem the wind caused me is, now I have to go out and play pick up sticks
28 here now, supposed to go up to the low 60's later. Bluebird sky and no wind. Woo Hoo.................
We had 30 this morning B 4 coffee, we're at 38 with a projected high around 60 today, last night I ran the pellet stove but the rest of the burning season will be wood.
