He is only seven months so I expect him to be ornery, but that was an eye opener!
We are on our fourth Lab and we never had one grab stuff off the counter. So far he has done pretty good besides some licking and play biting and jumping up on us. Our trainer has solved our problems in the past with the other guys. She can fix this one too.

Badger just turned 5. He's doing less counter surfing than he used to. He's also 90 lbs now too.

    No.
Mrs. TD caught him in time with a correction. He dropped it on the floor as he got down off of the stove.

Easily fixed, set em up. Leave a slice or two up on the counter hidden behind a mouse trap. If he's smart, one taste of that will cure the counter surfing..........................

Last dog I had was a 80 lb male German Shorthair who was a rescue. Big squarehead was a horrific surfer. After he had to peel the second trap off his nose, he only had to see the trap and he was gone. Never touched another morsel. My current dog Bear has never had people food. I am the only one who feeds him. You could throw a steak at him and he'd probably throw it back at you. Purpose trained not to accept food from anyone other than me or the wife.

I can't verify, but I think my dogs get more rowdy with barometer changes. I heard that happens with kids, and wondered too many times about my dogs.

Yes, but with all we hear about bear, has he ever had people for food?

Campinspecter took all the dogs to the vet yesterday for annual exams and Cricket turned out to have an abscessed anal gland. Poor thing came home with a shaved bum and lots of meds for the next couple of days. She is not doing too bad - all things considered.

Probably will be when the meds run out and the hair starts to grow again.

No, most people just see him and on truckin'. Funniest part is when we are around, he'll lick you to death. If he is in the house or car alone, he gets very guardy. When folks come over to visit he's so happy to see them that he becomes a pest so he usually gets chased to another room. he does get very alert to loud voices or any type of aggression toward either one of us. He is aggression trained and has a trigger word.

That can be a huge effort. I can't take both my labs in at the same time. They won't pay attention and pull me in opposite directions. I think the next time I have to take one of them, I'm taking a younger person with me to help.
