He called @ 9:20 to say he had gotten tied up but would be there by noon. He gets credit for at least calling...... I mentioned to him that he probably won't get it done today. His reply to that was " I should be able to get it done, I have a good gas splitter and I think I can get a cord an hour done". Now, I may a little pessimistic, but I don't see that happening. That just might be old age sticking its head up though. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. We shall see.................................
single wedge....................life lesson in the making................ Gotta give the young fella A+ for motivation, just needs to get his estimate skills honed a little. Hasn't stopped a minute since he started though.
Get him some mtn dew, or a red bull to see if that speeds him up more. A cord an hour with a single wedge? Hmm, I don't know what the single wedge splitter my buddy has can do in an hour, but that seems a bit optimistic. I wouldn't be surprised if a half cord an hour was more a reality.
2 and 3/4 hours into it and the lad is @ approx. 1 3/4 cord done. Said the 28" blocks are taking him longer than he thought. He is doing a nice job so far though............. my arm started to throb just watching him.... Nice straight grain in most of it, so it splits quick. Loaded with water though, almost dripping out of them.
It sounds to me like you have a hard working young man that is living up to his commitments. That is always worth rewarding. Recommend him to any friends that need similar work done. He is earning that recommendation.
