It's 26 tonight so we have a load of Cherry in. I did try to get back in to the property I cut on, the one bad area still has lots of snow so I had to turn the Rhino around, we'll give it another try later this week or weekend.
It's 40 out now, it was like 33 when I started the fire. It's been the first fire in a couple of days. Whatever, it's nice and warm in the family room, and the furnace is quiet. We are burning ash, elm, and uglies of the sugar maple I hauled out of the woods yesterday evening.
23ยบ this morning, old, dry Pine slab wood burning in the boiler. This stuff is 2-3 years old and has been outside that whole time.
That oughta be a flash fire. Temps here about the same although they say we are getting a inch of snow tonight with freezing drizzle in the morning. C'mon Spring.............................
After a record 3 days without a fire, we dropped down into the low 40's last night and inside it's 66F. High in the mid 40's today so it looks like I'll be starting a fire today. Ash and walnut.
35 here, but a damp 35. So after a cold stove for 3 days I thought I'd surprise the XO with a morning fire... ...someone cue of the music for 'we don't have no shoulder season'.
Thought about lighting up something to knock the chill off, but at 68F on the back porch now, at 8:50 pm, guess I'll hold off, Gasifier...
30 here Eric VW. And your temps mean you . . . . No that doesn't mean rock! 2" of snow on the ground and Pine slab wood heating up the boiler this morning.
46 out. Snows about gone except piles. About a face cord left in the furnace room. 2 pairs of bluebirds showed up yesterday checking out houses. Down to one last bird feeder fill in the storage tote. Town posted roads yesterday. Daffodils peekin up a couple inches. Fat lady just entered front stage,,,, me thinx !
Well it 25 here this morning 4 inches of wet heavy snow, daughter was gonna take school bus a 7 but I started a snow ball fight and then we made a snowman first time got the wet snow to do it it has been too cold. so I bring her to school late. she is happy. a counselor is not apparently he thinks some government testing is more important than play time. I felt the temper start to flare almost told him I pay your salary so zip it.... but instead, I thanked him for his concern about providing a good education and advised him I felt in 20 years she will remember this memory more than some test. great start to a great spring!
It is shoulder season where I am and my wife is making the fires. Most times she has lit a stove since the season started. We are in a hotel a little north of Niagara Falls, Canada. She does like the stove at home better but says this one is easier. BTW, it is a gas unit and all she has to do is push a button to light it. KaptJaq
Three inches of wet snow greeted us this AM. Been in the 40's today...a lot of the snow is gone. Supposed to rain all night, maybe snow a little tomorrow night. Sixty on Sunday! and a beautiful day. Looks like we'll have two additional nice days next week. Sunny and mild. I think I'll try lighting a fire in a little bit, then leaving the stove alone until tomorrow night. Supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow, then freezing tomorrow night, 60 and sunny Sunday. So, a fire now, and a fire tomorrow night. Other than that, sounds like we will need fires at night and small fires several days next week. The days that aren't sunny are in the 40's and raining, which usually calls for a fire to be comfortable. At this point, I'd like to be able to not have to burn.
We had thirty two this morning, just another load of Cherry. I think we're at 39 tonight so we'll feed it more Cherry.
We got on an airplane and left 80 degrees sun in FL this afternoon to come home to 42 and drizzle. I lit up a few pieces of oak and norway maple. I had really hoped the burning would be over. It just might be after tonight if the extended forecast is right.
38 this smornin! A little wind, and cloudy. Going to get some more rain. Pine slab keeping the boiler toasty when it needs it.
We had 40 this morning, no fire yet but we'll have one (Cherry) when the cold front arrives later this afternoon. This is for gasifier's area, at the moment our wind gust are said to be 40 mph when the front comes in. http://northcountrynow.com/news/thu...orth-country-high-winds-today-tonight-0140767
We've been in the mid 30's for overnight temps, and have had a mix of oak, poplar, maple burning in half loads for the past week. Should be warmer this time of year.....
