There is a cat stuck about 25' up a tree right outside our living room window for at least 24 hours now. So, wife and I decided to "rescue" it. Go out with the ladder, harness, lineman's belt, etc. Go up the ladder to 17 ft. and then the cat pees on me and heads 10' higher up the tree. Well, that's it. He'll be spending the night up there until he gets hungry or thirsty enough to come down. I'm done.

Cruelty to animals is associated with sociopaths.... Maybe some of you should do a little introspection. Just sayin'

I've told this story on here before. Neighbor up the street had a cat in their tree (not there cat and no one knew who's cat). This cat was up in the tree for several days as it was afraid to come down and they had tried everything. I was looking for our outside cat when one of the other neighbors told me about it, thinking it was our cat up the tree. Well it wasn't our cat but I was asked to help. I took my cordless sawzall up as far as I could go and cut the branch that extended up to the cat thinking it would fold and the cat would swing down to a lower area of the tree where it would then feel safe to climb down.....wrong, when that limb started going that cat came down clear to the ground, probably 35 to 40 feet and when it hit the ground it shot off like it's tail was on fire.

Yeah, he/she will come down whenever it gets hungry or thirsty enough. Right now it would almost surely survive even if it fell all the way down, so I'm not worried. Pets aren't always Einsteins, but they are suprisingly good at surviving even without our so-called "help

It's all in good fun Mike.

    Heck I love cats.

If you marinate them long enough and slice them thin enough. (Joking. We have two cats. I'd only eat one of them. The other is pretty cool.)

Here's Ben the Cat pretending he's part of our nativity set.

I wouldn't be sure it will come down on it's own if it's that scared even if it's hungry or thirsty but if it gets weak it may fall out but that poses a problem too as it may not have the strength to survive the fall. 6 one way half dozen the other.

I have heard of cases where that was the most humane thing to do. Actually telephone poles, but same idea.

If you do have to go back up and get it wear an extra thick coat and some thick gloves, I had to get my cat off the roof (don't ask how it got up there) and it clung to me with every claw it had..

I have a cat she thinks she is a dog though. Fearless too. Cynical isn't a word I would use to describe her. Never seen a cat kill as much as this one. Could feed her all day she still out in the field killing mice snakes occasional birds but won't mess with baby rabbits never have figured that out.
