Due to my recent flip on the ice and resulting reconstruction surgery, I have been sitting here fretting on how I was going to get the 6 cords of Oak blocks that I had cut up into splits. It will no doubt be a few months before I could ever think about doing that. So, I put and ad in the local Kijiji and low and behold a local young fella, who is outta work jumped @ the chance to bring his own splitter and do it. He came over last night and looked it over. We agreed on a price of $250.. Says he'll be over first thing Saturday morning and have at it. Says he has to get er' done this weekend as he is starting a new job Monday. If this works out, we'll both be happy..........
There you go! Great idea... That's a lot of splitting. I wonder just how long it will take him to get it all done? Is he stacking too? Any big rounds to manhandle?
rotti, west of luck, I hope it works out if this guy splits and stacks 6 cord in a weekend not surprising he wasn't out of work long! let us know how it turns out.
Glad you found someone Rotti. Young, strong people, who are good workers and want to do laborious work, are getting harder to find these days.
Will you be able to take pics with your non-bionic arm? Definitely hope he stacks too. Way to git 'er dun.
He is just piling. i want to do the stacking myself later on. wood is for 2 years away just wanted to get it split toget the seasoni.g started.
Too bad you live so far I could come help you kind of sucks your splitter is not even very old and you can't use it. Well you got to get the wood to start seasoning. There is splitter for hire ads on Craigslist around here
Thanks for the thought HD, I think this will work out as the lad seems genuine. We'll see...............
if I could buy split and seasoned 3 year Wood for a hundred bucks for two chords, all the time like I just did, I wouldn't need a splitter any more
Rotti, that is great that both parties win and that you get to help out someone who is needy. On the other hand, if you weren't so darned far away.... I wonder what Customs would think if someone came in hauling a log splitter?
For sure Dennis. Actually I have a brand new 28 ton, its just that I figure I don't want someone unknown to me running it. I'm figuring he'll take good care of his own machine................
I feel the same way about "you can leave the splitter here" offers from friends and extended family. Don't quite feel good about the whole thing overall since it would not be replaced if it was damaged/ruined.
