The little tin was given to me with some other engine related stuff - not sure what they are - anyone know? Thanks! Cheers!
It's gotta be a clutch damper , vibration damper, or something like that. I've seen them before. I just can't determine where.
I can tell you EXACTLY what they are.....they are old starter clutch pawls for older Stihl saws (041, 051, 075, 076 series, to name a few).
Fairbanks Morse friction I worked on a old saw that had them but wasnt a stihl. http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/chainsaws-not-listed/remington-pl-5-powerlite-chainsaw/
Did they work well in their day? I have heard of several machines being discontinued because they never broke down or needed replacement parts...
I'm not that old. I dont like it myself. It's the reason I had to work on the one above. The MF system itself gave up the ghost.
Oh, Cut- I wasn't suggesting that! I was referring to the MACHINE! That's funny... Who ya fixin it for? Hope you get good $ for your time...
Was a friend so just cost of shipping and parts. Was his dad's saw. Fixed it and had him make some cuts with it. He was grinning ear to ear and very happy. I have worked with the guy 28 years.
That's cool, cutforfun! Let's say you started working at age 16(an average starting age) + 28 years working with your friend... that puts you at roughly 44 years old, so yeah, not too old, man! J/K!
