My 441 is not oiling properly. I want to see if it's a simple fix. It's under warranty, so I'm taking advantage of that. Dealer is only a few miles down the road.

Good, send it back and let the dealer handle it. Nobody wants things to go wrong with their gear this soon but thats what the warranty is for.

BTW, I know it's close to x-mas and all, just be careful when your in the showroom...self gifting happens there!

LOL!!! I hear Husqvarna makes a great splitting axe for the money. This is a Stihl and Echo dealer, so I hopefully won't be tempted.

I would like an MS 150 C-E but you have to call it quits at some point

Is your 441 the standard model or M-tronic? I forget?

As for oiling, did you clean the oil hole on the bar, bar groove, oil/bar plate on inside of cover? My be a simple fix? Then again, you have an excuse to look at new saws.. :)

I did not check the oil hole...thought it might be ok to have the mechanic there just point out a couple things while it's all warrantied.

    It's a 441 C-M. Just pulled out the manual

FC, I hope they can get your cold start issues taken care of too. My 441 is a 2-3 pull machine in sub-20 Deg temps.

Thanks...I almost forgot to mention that at the dealer. All sorts of little issues to contend with. I need to get these resolved prior to the get together. Can't be showing up with a lame saw

What would be more lame is to show up with only 1 saw...

I had my wife's 170 out cutting 3-8" diameter limbs on the saw buck last weekend. I was impressed with it. Has some pretty good snot for its size. Imagine opening the muffler would help even more, but the wife does not like my "loud saws" so I'll leave it alone.

Easy enough to check in the future (no problem with returning it to the dealer though under warranty!), just take the bar and chain off and fire it up. Give it a little throttle and see if oil comes out the hole. If it does then your oiler is fine and you need to clean the bar oiler inlet hole and the bar groove.

Went to the dealer and here's what I learned: oiler hole was not plugged...showed me what to look for; chain was a little tight and we turned up the oiler....oiling more now; plug was fouled...replaced the plug and bought a spare; fired up a lot easier now. For $5.50, she's running good. I could have pressed them to throw in the $2.75 plug for free, but I'm not splitting hairs when it's that little money involved.

Apparently, all larger Stihls use the same size plug, so my spare should work in the 290 and the 192 if I need to swap plug out on any of them.

I guess I could modify my 290 and bring that also.

Yea all larger stihl and most husky I think are that same plug.

How was your plug fouled on a new saw?? That's suspect to me. I just replaced the plug in my still 390 last yr after 8 years it was still good just eroded. I had gapped mine before to to close the gap to get back to specs. What's oil are u using?
