Had creosote running down the stovepipe today. Between my slip pipe and my connector I have creosote running down on the outside. It doesn't surprise me as the temp has been warm and the stove has been running really low. It also rained all night and day. But it is not a nice look :(

My slip joint has the larger (female) piece on the bottom so creosote can't run out of it, just like the other pieces of black pipe.
Are your other pieces upside down?

I've also only seen this on upside down pipe. Saw a lot of it as a kid...

Slip pipe going up to the chimney. Below that is a male to male connector attached to the female ends of the slip pipe and the stove pipe which is attached to the stove. It is leaking between the female slip joint on top and the top of the male connector. I put a few pieces in and am running a little hot to dry it out. I am bypassing the cat for this. I think whoever installed the stove pipe had it in upside down.

Make end up, female end down. Sounds like the problem.

From looking at the pics, the bottom end of your slip joint should be a male end. Not sure what's up with yours unless it has been cut off (shortened). That would eliminate the double male and solve the problem.

If you're having that problem you're not running your pipe and chimney hot enough

Dad used to run his plenty hot, but since the pipe was upside down we always had creosote dripping away.

Cat stoves often run less than 250F single wall surface pipe temp. Mine does all winter with no problem and keeps the chimney decently clean.

ash is less than 20%. It has been 13-18 %. I have been running really low. The installers put in the slip pipe. I haven't seen a slip pipe with a crimped end yet.

Here's mine. Rust on the upper half from slipping it up during stove cleaning.

May be from burning too low, inactive cat.
