In the 90's, took a skip out to Sturgis with a couple buddies. One had a Harley (also) and the third had a Ninja. Almost everywhere we stopped we heard the same question "Who has the green bike?"
He would get on the interstate and open that sucker up until he would shrink down to a dot on the horizon and then disappear! Me and the other guy had already lived through that stage....
He would always tease me about the Harley and I told him the biggest difference is when we stop at a stoplight next to a plate glass window, I look at the reflection and admire how nice I look while he would look away!

I finished this one in 2013. It took me a few years, I'm really slow with my projects. IMG-20130726-00188.jpg IMG-20130726-00189.jpg

I've owned it since 2001 iirc. I bought it for myself for a birthday present.

I've ridden it on the Californian northern coast on hwy 1 (Oregon coast too), and on Maine's hwy 1 as well, and plenty of places in between. It's given me plenty of fun miles. I've had it down to the frame, replaced that due to cracks in the casting by the headstock , and overall improved it over the years. I still need a better rear shock as the rotary damper it has on it. Good idea, poor execution with the "dumper" as we TL freaks call it. Lately there's been a traditional r1 or r6 rear shock swap that needs brackets and it definitely is an upgrade for pretty cheap. Ohlins, bitubo, penske, maxon, and others have been around and some already gone for years, but those are all varying degrees of expensive.

I don't think I'll ever sell the mighty TLS, but aprilia and ducati have some nice vtwins and vfours out there.

Yooper, while you think your buddy didn't like the looks of his kawi, I love how my TL looks, and rides. It's actually quite comfy for a sport bike. Driven riser bars and a Corbin seat make it easy to ride a whole tank out at a time without feeling the need to get off the bike in between fill ups.

I was thinking 2 stroke. In German, 2 stroke is "zwei takt". So I think like my German heritage. Some oil companies, even label their 2 stroke oils " 2T", and 4T for four strokes.

I'm thinking of finding a FST IQ touring for my next sled. I love the fact that that Weber twin has serious snort, even in stock form, and a few tweaks to the motor and you can get them to 350 HP or so on pump gas and they are stone reliable. I've never driven one, but I've learned enough about them to want one.

Hasn't been any 2 stroke street bikes allowed here since the 1977 EPA regs. I think there were some in 84-85 but that was The End.
There are some amazing 2 strokes being built now though

I love my turbo. Absolutely no lag. And definitely the quietest sled I ever rode.

Yep, that was about it. 84-85 rz 350, and a few like the rgv zook, hind had the vtr250, but yeah the epa klled the bimota v-due in recent times. That was a liquid cooled vtwin 500 direct injection 2 stroke that was clean, but the epa couldn't get past the 2 stroke part for a street bike.

I wanted one of those bad.
