That was going to be my next suggestion. If they force you to take a pair, I'd think you could get a second set if you wanted something different. Of course I'm sure thats an extra charge though. Depending on the price, it would be a nice feature to have a few different ones you could change things up, maybe make a special set for christmas so the extended family could enjoy a christmas decorated stove or something like that.

I've been hoping they'd do this, just make holiday sets available for purchase separately.

I do know the design is more time consuming than the actual production, so I can understand why they would decline on accepting two different side panel designs, at least not without an upcharge.

My wife and I have actually been talking about this, so I just called Woodstock. They said side medallions are $75 for a set for patterns already in their files. It would cost a little more to design something from scratch.

That's very reasonable. I'm sure that laser cutter wasn't cheap.

I foolishly let the stove burn out after a half- load early last night. It was cool in the house this morning, stove warm but not keeping up and as I had a lunch appointment, I just left it. Got home around 4:30 PM and the house was 62F! Stove is running now :emb: and the house is back in the mid- 70's where it belongs. I keep thinking we must be at the end of winter and I can get cavalier about feeding the stove and to a point that is true.... but it ain't spring yet and I cannot quite let the stove go out yet.

We got spoiled last week with a 70 degree day, snow showers today until about three hours ago. Wind is really kicking in. My wood supply isn't gonna hold out much longer, that's for certain. Spring needs to hurry up

I assume that is just the 2 side medallions and not any of the burners/andirons?

Yes, just the side medallions. But I'm sure they could do the rest too and the price would be reasonable.

We've been joking about getting a Christmas set and one for each of the four seasons.

Whats the max length for splits to fit N/S in the IS? The website says 22" max but im guessing thats E/W.

22 will fit but you won't be able to fill to the max at that length. The last few pieces just won't fit. You have to put the last long pieces in at an upward angle to one side or the other to get them in. If it is mostly full there isn't enough room to get the angle needed. I cut to 20 in and I have no problems with the last few. Some of the larger pieces actual go up into the top opening to make It in the door then slide to the opposite side and lay flat.

And 18" is right at the limit with the andirons in place. I removed mine sometime in the middle of the winter and prefer the stove without them actually; then 18" splits can be loaded at a slight angle after the coals are raked forward. This helps to fill the firebox as the I.S. firebox top has a slope down toward the back of the stove anyway.

Just filled out the order form:dex:. Guessing they will call me for credit card number for deposit. Going dragons but not sure the colors yet. Like the idea of red trim and dragons but have to see. Oh the pressure of getting it all just right:hair: and hopping it's the right move.
Is the rear heat shield standard? How do you get the side burners changed from the gear design?

I just got mine setting on the hearth yesterday, now when the rain quits for a day or so I'll build the chimney & chase & finish it off. When I ordered my stove the whole house was carpet, since then I put hardwood in the kitchen & tile in the entry & built the hearth with tile on it also have the stovepipe up to the attic so I'm getting really close. I'm going to try 16" wood ns & 20" ew, & that could all change. i'll be glad to build the first fire for sure. I have had the most pleasant experience with woodstock one could ever hope for. I'm sure we will enjoy it as others have. I'll give you some updates when we build a fire. Here's some pics. 20150405_115025 (Medium).jpg 20150406_081429 (Medium).jpg 20150406_081502 (Medium).jpg 20150406_081635 (Medium).jpg
