Started yesterday trying to get this mess straighten out. Guess you could say I have my work cut out for me. Besides loading the red trailer for my 77 year old friend as he doesn't get out as much to scrounge for wood I started piling the large chunks of Beech and Oak to be broken down with the bigger splitter even though it has hydraulic arms the thumb on the tractor it is easier on the back. I know putting the thumb on the back hoe was one of the best investments I have made. Besides the firewood needing so much attention I have to haul the 86 GMC that is going to be a frame up restoration the 350 only has 36,000 miles on it into the garage. The Mitsubishi is an Eclipse that I am sending out to a guy called "Mitsubishi Mike" for engine work he builds a mean motor. The compost piles and chips need tending to. I do want to say thanks to whoever turned me onto Amazon on FHC for the sticker "Nobody cares about your stick family" one of my buddy's told me you need to know what you're doing putting it on. Can you tell that he had one too many beers before showing me the proper way of doing it. So if your yard looks worse than mine I would really like to see it. It would make me feel so much better knowing I am not the only one so far behind. On a good note with the construction of the Rivers Casino less than a mile down the road the Restaurant has been crazy. I guess you can't have everything but I would settle for a little more time out back with my wood.

You'll get it knocked out, Chopy! Glad your restaurant is doing well- can you hire in more help so as to free you up for your wood duties? Either way you look at, these 2 sets of totally different responsibilities are a labor of love.... or at best, a bunch of labor!

Mud doesn't look too bad yet. Nice place to put up firewood. Wish I had some of that beech you have in that one picture!

Then maybe you could tell my wife that. She's a good woman but still stuck in "Suburbia" where we used to live thinking what will the neighbors say?

Eric thanks for the vote of confidence. Problem with hiring right now is that it is very busy lunch hour with all the construction workers and it would only be like 4 hours a day for 20 hours a week. It's hard enough to get someone at 8 hours a day @ $14.50 an hour. The sad fact is a person can't support a family on that kind of money. I have an ad on Craigslist and a sign on my door hoping to attract a college student or even a person who works 2nd shift and looking for some extra income. It's a fact that Schenectady County is the easiest place to get Welfare in New York State so I have to compete with that as well. Not complaining I know have it good everyone in my family is healthy, but sometimes I just want to hear myself putting my problems out there.

You're way ahead of me, you have the wood in your yard. I've only replaced 2 cords so far, many more to go to get ahead.

I hear you Chopy. Good to know everyone in yer family is healthy, and the Schenectady scene can be pretty sketchy. Goes to show the income differences/COL by region tho, $14.50/hr down here is a pretty decent wage...

I might think that would be a great deal for a stay at home mom looking for a extra income, while her kids are in school?

It is but try to get one that wants to work a kitchen here in Ladi Da land. I believe way too many people live well above their means.

Okay so today, Sunday I went to my church out back at 7 and got the John Deere started first time this year. Changed the oil in the Deere and both splitters. At 9 my help came. Only split about 3 cord between the 3 of us and 2 splitters. I run the big splitter lifting the wood with my thumb on my tractor breaking them down then off to the Timberwolf where they get spilt smaller. Also got one cord stacked and quit at 1:00. Hooked up 4' York rake to try to get rid of some of the water out there. A friend of my sold me the "Bush Buggy" the trailer on the Deere for one hundred last year I checked them out online and found they sell for over $500.00 used, it has benches inside sold for an ATV or 4 wheeler to bring the kids for a ride I guess. Dinner is at 4:30 so I am posting these pictures and then into the shower. Not my favorite for dinner tonight "Taco's" but I'll survive. I am making a little progress as I have my buddy duck's trailer almost half full as well. Hope everyone had a great day working on firewood. I can tell I am getting older as my body is starting to hurt now instead of waiting till the next day like it used to.

    Very nice Chopy.

As for those tacos, I'd eat your share if I could be there! Yummy.

Looks like it's coming along. I try to make at least one good mess in the yard a year. That's not counting splitter trash.
