I just missed a good score of free stuff so, I decided I should start checking Craigslist 3 times a day instead of 1. I saw the ad and it was only 4 hours old, the ad was for $150, but when I called the guy he said if I would take it all he would give it to me for 100. Okay I didn't waste any time getting an address in getting my butt out there to take a look, it was what he said it was. He is an older gentleman and it sure was nice to talk to someone that knew what a full cord was here in Michigan, and knew what dry wood was. Real nice guy shot the bull for a while. He put gas heat in his man cave so, he wants the wood gone, outa the way Mostly maple and ash, there is three rows there, a shorter one in the front but the back two are 14 feet long and 6 feet high, all together I think there are two cords there, as you can see it is dry wood. Sealed the deal, I go start hauling it home Tuesday
Almost too easy. It only seems cheap until you have to get a gym membership to make up for all the splitting you missed out on.
ah that's no problem I have plenty more wood to split, more trees to take down, and more scrounges to get
WOW / What a score Stuff looks ready to burn !!!! You hit a home run with that score !***! How close to home ?
oh yeah it's ready I checked a piece was 14 percent, there might be some punk on the bottom is setting on cement. Around here so-called seasoned wood goes for about 300 to 350 for 2 cord, truly seasoned wood about 450 to 475 21 miles away
I have $35 into a cord of green birch rounds by the time they are in my yard Then I have to S&S & season for a couple years. You scored the rare "ready to burn wood" for $50 , Pictures next week of it in your yard Off the ground & top covered, of course. $900 value for $100 is , now that's a bargain !
Oops, the numbers I posted above are for 2 cords. I had seen a couple of deals like that with seasoned wood but they were gone before I even had a chance
yeah, don't worry Dave your eyes are not that bad I just now edited it. A cord and a half will go straight into my little makeshift woodshed
I have plenty of wood but sure I will burn some and check it out, only thing is, being that well seasoned it may be a wild guessing game knowing exactly what I am stuffing in the stove, especially if there is no bark on it
If it gets as bad as it was this year with the wind chill you'll at least have something stowed away you can use.
probably end up mixing it in with red and white oak and hickory next winter I like burning mixed loads most of the time
I bet that makes it easy running the stove though you know exactly what's going to happen each time you load it
Yea consistency is important. Glad you reminded me, gotta go load the stove Think I'll load it with birch this time ! LOL
I was just thinking about what am I going to load the stove up with here in a little while house is down to 70 right now, low 29 tonight. At least you don't have any of these hard decisions to make like I do
