I just started some Big Boy tomato plants (4) I also started 4 hot pepper plants for this year, 2 of each plant. I also do some sweet basil.
I like hot peppers. How hot is hot? I get gallon jugs of pepperoncini at a local restaurant supply. Like the ones you get at Olive Garden in the salad. Are these like that?
I'm making time this year, once the snow goes we'll pick the spot out. I only want three cord of wood this spring, that should give us more time to enjoy summer. We'll go with raised beds this year.
Zap, I couldnt help but laugh. You and I (and anyone else that knows you here) both know 3 cords is a drop in the bucket for you and your forest.
Last year we used the boat a total of four times, we plan on more time boating/fishing. My grandparents (came over from Italy) had a huge garden so I would like a small one this year, if all goes well, we'll make it bigger next year. Having a chit load of wood is nice but you need some fun time in the summer.
I'm hoping they grow, the expiration date on the seed package is 2011. The last time we started a garden,my father almost died so the garden was the last thing we worried about.
We might do some yellow pole beans, just gotta figure a good way to stop the deer from inhaling them, any ideas?
Oh man, don't ask me for advice. I lost my whole crop of Blue Lake GB last year to a tribe of bunnies. Reminded me of the Holy Grail scene with the killer cave bunny. Still working on cleaning up the branches (more like trees) that fell and broke the garden fence, which will then allow me to fix the fence, which might keep the bunnies out, which means I might actually have a crop this year. I'm hopeful.
Since we're talking food, the wife is making Onion Pie for tonight, it's a side dish. I'm not sure if this is the recipe but it looks good. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Vidalia-Onion-Pie/
Etna peppers are 65000 scoville units for heat. Those Cayennes are only like 30k to 50k scoville units. So, while they say peperoncini, that appears to simply be Italian for pepper. 2011? They might grow, you might have less viable seeds. I've got more seeds I needs to start today.
I don't plant my vegetable garden until mid-May now. I want that soil good and warm so the seeds don't rot; and, I want the threat of a late frost to be gone for the "seedlings" that I plant. Just saying, not arguing!!!
The top looks like an ornament growth type which I have found to be very hardy. I'm so happy for you starting your seeds! Good luck!
Between the Goldwing, Firewood and Ext. House Maint., don't really have time to mess with a garden. On top of that, this year with the elbow fiasco adding an unknown element, I will help the hard working Mennonites @ our local weekly farmers market.
