Sorry no pics as it is cold, dark and a good northern wind here in the flatlands of Iowa. It is Good Friday and I got home from work and was going to stack some more farwood but I thought I would just relaxe for the night. So I did some rough measuring of my wood supply. To my best guess I have almost 10 full cords stacked out back. I don't remember doing all that since I did it a little at a time. That is enough wood to keep me in heat for 4 to 5 years. It also means I can slow down some on my work load when it comes to farwood as I aint gotta scramble around wundering where the next tree is that needs killin. But then again that is like me going to an AA meeting and saying I aint never gonna drink a beer again too.
Every little bit adds up, I've been scrounging the wood the electric company's been leaving on the side of the road in my neighborhood, I'm up to 2 cords without realizing it, hope to get the rest split this weekend.
Yep! Thank God the old fella that built this place lived a life in an old drafty farm house. 10 inch block basement, 6 inch block exterior upstairs. 1 inch celotex on the inside of the upper floor and 2x4 studded walls with fiberglass and then the sheetrock. The windows suck but if I didn't have some kind of draft in the hooch I couldn't light a match I fear. And we don't feel the need to keep the whole house hotter than the hubs of hell. 65° to 70° is more than happy time for us.
