    I have never gone before.
I am no stranger to doing plumbing work. Soldering pipes, PVC, septic, sinks and drains. But tomorrow I am going to tackle the dripping tub/shower faucet that is dripping and getting worse. 1 of those single handle knobs that goes from hot on the left to cold on the right and just push it in to turn it off. Never messed with 1 of these in my life but I am hoping it will be as easy as the you tube vids make it seem. I am somewhat pessimistic though. No matter how much I plan and prepare when it comes to plumbing projects it always seems to take 3 or 4 trips to the hardware store and a whole lot of vocabulary that even my wife has never heard come outta my mouth. Back when I was a carpenter/mason I used to hate it when the plumbers showed up to a job site but I guess they do have their place in the food chain. Just cant afford to hire one.

Don't feel bad that's how most of my projects go too. It's worse when you start on something and find something else done shoddy and have to fix it too.

Those old moen cartridge style suck bad that seem to get corroded or froze I had to take a channel lockes and pull my arse off to get it out make sure u grease the pizz out of it so the next time u have to replace it . It will come out and u have to make sure u put it in the right way or your hot /cold will be backwards. Been there done that.so have fun with it .

Used to be worser, I used to live across the street from Lowe's. Cause of living on a dead end road it was faster to walk. Shoulda seen the looks I got when I needed a sheet of plywood.

My old house had the 3 knob shower set up. The plumber must have been deep in the cups cause it was arse backwards. I grew up with it so I never realized anything was wrong until a friend said the water wouldn't get hot. I asked her what the heck you mean.

Those are my exact thoughts. So many years of old well water and the well casing that comes with it sure do plug stuff up sometimes.

Hopefully you don't have mineral deposit buildup on the whole thing...ask me how miserable that is!

    Three things Rotti!

The third is "hot on the left, cold on the right."

Good luck Butcher ... most plumbing is a PITA... and behind shower enclosures is sometimes the worst.

We have Moens at work. There is a puller tool that makes it easier to remove the cartridge. A pair of pliers works pulling it straight out. I take a piece of wire or paperclip to hook the retainer clip. I dropped one down into a wall once and use the wire now.

Check the balancer spool inside it to make sure it is free, unless you are just replacing the cartridge altogether.

    Good luck, it'll fight ya.

When plumbing a dishwasher I once bought a part...returned it...then came back and bought it again. Luckily for the clerk he bit his tongue. I hate plumbing.

Went super easy. If I would have had the new cartridge and not have to drive 20 miles to get 1 it would've been a 10 minute job. feel kinda silly for putting it off for 2 years.
