Okay guys, I've been looking for .22 ammo for almost 3 years now, and am getting seriously frustrated with the situation. What's a guy to do? Can I buy it online?
no online sales in Mass. But things are getting better than they were last year. We can get .22 now but they limit the amount you purchase at one time. No idea what things are like in other parts of the country
I found 6 boxes on a shelf once, it must have just come in. I bought the three they allowed me, haven't seen anything since. Except for some "shot shells," but I'm not a fan.
I don't really know either since I'm not a gun guy at all, but I need one as a tool. So, I haven't kept up or talked with folks who are into it, I just cruise through that aisle of the local general store whenever I'm in there. It's been forever since I've even seen any .22, and I'm out and see coyotes in my pasture with my lambs pretty much daily. Really frustrating.
.22 ammo is like gold here. There are so many 22 plinkers out there now that the stuff is impossible to find. Ever since they allowed expanded magazines, ammo prices and demand has skyrocketed. I was at a gun shop yesterday looking at 9mm handguns, and they had a sign up saying that .22 ammo was available, but limited to 100 rounds. 100 rounds? I used to buy two or three 1000 round boxes of .22 ammo at a time. I was swimming in it. No longer... Coyotes? My .223 takes care of them in a hurry.
In WA state you can order .22 from Cabelas online. Remington .22 ammo is currently sold out, but they have CCI in stock for $9/50 rounds (standard velocity) or $5/50 for low velocity plinking rounds. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting/Ammunition/Rimfire-Ammunition|/pc/104792580/c/104691780/sc/104536080/CCI-22-Rimfire-Ammunition/705571.uts?destination=/catalog/browse/rimfire-ammunition/_/N-1100192+4294758999/Ne-4294758999?WTz_st=GuidedNav&WTz_stype=GNU&WTz_l=undefined;cat104536080#productChart
If you mean quantity, for .22 it is usually 50 per. But you can also get boxes with 100 and 550 rounds.
You are welcome. I used to raise sheep as well. I hate coyotes. In my view the only good thing about allowing wolf repopulation in Oregon is that they will kill off the coyotes, as they have done in Idaho and Wyoming. But the wolves are going to be a bigger problem. 30-30 material.
In my area, a lot of the smaller gun shops have .22 ammo, but they're charging $60-70 for a brick of 500. That's more than double what it should be, but I guess if you're desperate it's still cheaper than any centerfire ammo you can buy.
