I don't remember much of the 70s as I was just a little guy. I remember the blizzard of 78 and my dad having to break out the skis to get to town (about 3 miles) for some groceries. I remember him trading in a Chevelle SS for a 1979 1/2 Chevy Citation. My first job was at a service station, and one of my duties was manning the full serve pumps. That was one of two stations that had full serve at the time. I'd bet it's been 20 years since you could find a full serve pump around here.
"I'd bet it's been 20 years since you could find a full serve pump around here." ... got em right in town here...
Yup... this place is about 6 miles away, 2-3 guys pump gas, will check oil if asked, wash windshield and rear windows if needed... and do it with a smile. Gas is about the same price as others in the area that are self serve. No, it's not Mayberry...
Visit New Jersey. Idiots wont allow you to pump your own gas anywhere in the state. Or rather dont visit new jersey.
I remember the blizzard of 67 and also remember 3 local guys getting together and pulling a toboggan. It was 3 miles to the bar and they loaded that toboggan with cases of beer! Crazy. Simply crazy. They did sober up before they got home but had enough beer for the weekend.
I built model rockets too. Now I’m getting my kids into it. Now they have cameras you can put and record the flights. Just living vicariously through my kids now…
