I am like you. Its tough to sell that first one then it gets easier. If its not like a gift or your dads saw or one you have always wanted you will not regret selling it after a few days. You sound a lot like me...its hard for me to sell something but once the money is in my hand and I have moved on I dont even look back. But like I said if its a family saw or a favorite, or your dead family members saw or something.. DONT sell it your personality will never let you get over it.

yeah but with shipping and paypal prices are same actually stock to stock stihl, is 10 dollars cheaper. Don't get me wrong millermodsaws is heck of a deal I checked but this 461 has some stihl rebate on it. I know where to get stihl, fixed still lookin for dolly dealer to feel it. it hate to admit it but both since both master mind and mr. miller know heck I did not know what a ported saw was. much less how keep running. yah know I been in FHC, a month. makes decision harder mmm:sherlock:

If your not going to work on them and you like your stihl dealer and have connections there, and you dont even know where to get a dolmar, I think I would go with Stihl.

just started looking for dolmars, I know I can rebuild a holley 650 carburetor and sag tranny. just never played with saw, Johnny always cut it I changed plugs, filters, bars and chains. my logger rebuilt carb for me once in 25 years. but I was leaning that way.

but I like how you think sir

it's me, I research buy what I want and can be content. if I don't it hits fan example. ice maker fridge died no big deal found 1 ordered it their kit was 1 part by time got whole thing in its a month later. then I realize it doesn't have a shut off so it keeps Makin ice and it falls into bottom freezer and a pain in azz to clean up or door don't shut and stuff melts. :hair: I will replace before next winter we use very little ice in February where Ave temp was zero. who thought they came without 10 cent metal bar to stop.

in short, my luck, if I pick up a stick and it's not the dirty end I put it back so I'm not stealing!

Its always fun to kick the tires on different brands when shopping. Even is you end up with your first choice maybe you'll learn something along the way.

461 or 7910 will be hard to beat.

That makes sense to me. Coming from someone who owns a ported MS 461.

This makes sense too. BTW, a stock 461 is a pretty great saw. Easily pulls a 28" bar in the hardest of wood. You can always do a muffler mod or full porting later if you want to...

If I was looking for my first big saw, I would be considering the 461 or the 7910 with the 661 as my third option.
Definitely try to grab the ones you are considering and see how they feel. Lots of guys don't like how a particular brand saw feels (no brands mentioned) and its worth it to take your time to see if you feel more comfy holding a particular one. Good on you for making a very informed decision !!!

and it's fun too:) yeah I ruled out husky cause on bigger saws miller mod saw told me if you get it stuck in tree you can't drop bar easily and pull out power head because of clutch system. this happens to me:doh: so it's the stihl, 461 or dolly 7910. I called nieces boyfriend who 6'5" and 240 and was a logger and he got 461 so I don't need bigger than that. sometimes a 1 ton dump is nice but without a CFL I don't need a dump truck yet.

It's the smaller saws with the out bored clutch. 562xp and smaller. 70cc+ huskys are in board just like a stihl or dolmar. My bad if I confused ya. Sorry. :dex:

If you look into a husky defiantly take a look into the 390xp. For you application that would be my recomindation in the husky lineup!.

Good plan, but only works when you actually run the saw.  I don't think it'll die sitting in a box.:D
Use it to your advantage, be that running it, or selling to help fund another. Your call, obviously.

The husky 372 is an inboard clutch just like the 461. No difference... smaller huskies and homeowner saws are out board clutches but not the big huskies.
Well I see miller wrote this as well. But I will keep if here just as a second opinion.
