I am going to be getting my first handgun here shortly. I have almost 100% decided on the CZ 75 SP-01. Its a full size 9mm and I live in MD so no chance of me carrying this so I dont need a subcompact. I settled on this due to the reviews and lots of folks saying its a great gun to get started with and learn how to get good at shooting. Figured I would see if any of you have shot one or own one and your input. Oh and I also wanted a 9mm due to ammo cost but once I get good at shooting and what not a Glock 20 is the next gun.

I have the subcompact version in 9mm. I really like it, seems to like any ammo I throw at it. I carry it exclusively in the winter time, and a lcp in the summer!

I have the SAR B6P which is a knock off at a fraction of the price. Great gun.

I don't know much about the CZs ,but I believe they make quality handguns. I wouldn't be afraid to buy one. They seem to be reasonably priced.
The Glock 20 is just awesome. I love mine.

    Is it really nearly $700?

If it is, I could suggest a much nicer gun for less $. I've been looking at the walther ppx, but a ruger sr9 is a great gun too. My only handgun now is a pre war Nazi walther p-38 9mm all matching numbers, and mint unrestored shape. It even has all the Nazi proof stamps on it.

It's hard to use that for daily or fun use.

The CZ 75 is a GREAT gun, and will likely be my next handgun purchase, and first venture into 9mm. I’m currently trying to decide between the 75b, which I think looks better, and the SP01, which has the accessory rail in case I want to add a light and use it for home defense. Either way, I think you’re making an excellent choice. So many people get caught up in the polymer framed gun craze that Glock started, but I still prefer metal framed guns like the CZ, the 1911, and the Beretta 92. While they are on the heavy side for daily carry concealed, they’re hard to be beat for range and home defense duty. Most people who sell their CZ 75’s seem to soon regret it, as they are excellent shooters and very reliable.

I just noticed you want a G20 as a second gun. I'd highly recommend sticking with the .45ACP, you're not going to lose much as far as power at handgun distances, and it's a round that's a lot easier to find and a little cheaper.

He mentioned a Glock 20 as a second gun after the CZ. The G20 is a 10mm Auto.

Well might have to back track on my statement about getting it shortly. Just got word that my brother wants to do a 2 week road trip from Salt Lake City to Denali national park so obviously that trumps a handgun!:D

Or just go 40 s&w. I had a ruger 10mm back when the 10mm was new and in competition to be the next law / military round. That 10mm is an expensive round now because the 40 s&w won that battle.

Understandable. Fix-a-flat and spare tires aren't cheap. Have fun on the road trip!

Capetown. I've owned a 75 SP-01 for about 7 years now. It's a nail driver. Truly one of my favorite handguns of all time. Well made, accurate and reliable. A 9mm legend (as you know if you've been to youtube for reviews). It has a nice trigger out of the box and the CZ magazines are excellent. You'll love it.

Yea we are taking his subaru that has like 160k and going as far as it makes it. If it makes it to alaska we are selling or donating it and flying back. If it doesnt make it we will hitchhike around and camp and hike then fly home.
