Like I've maybe said before, Horkn & HDRock, I use AutoDesk Invemtor all day long at my job, but ask me to put together a spreadsheet or go beyond the preloaded apps on the "smart" phone- not afraid, just unknowing! And searches leave me guessing. Surprised I've been this proficient with a forum, really! If it weren't for admins and folks like y'all, I'd be totally lost...
the good thing on this forum is we can get a little, or a lot, off track and it doesn't matter no one is going to lock it down on us
Gonna get brave & try a MM one of these days. Then I'll need to take reading glasses when out cutting. Then need the good reading glasses to read the instructions. By then I'll forget what I went out to go do. Come back inside & start all over to remember what I went out to do. "where'd I left the batteries" LOL
I don't like glasses but, I just wear them all the time now, I have bifocal reading glasses they're just plain on top. I can't hit a screw head with a screwdriver without my glasses now
It's funny you say that, fireplaces (and some stoves with out air controls) are EPA exempt due to the large amount of air feeding the fire resulting in a hotter more efficient fire which would reduce the amount of smoke. Also you can make a EPA stove smoke by bad burning practices.
Total BS. I am an early boomer, born in 1947, and was the first person on my block to own a home PC, before most of the gen-Xers. I also designed database solutions for my former employer before I retired 4 years ago. Now I just design them for my own needs using Access. I will admit there are troglodytes among my age cohort but not all of us fit that description.
No, not all of you do. See my post a few after this one you quoted. You are an exception though. My family was the first to have a home PC in my school, an apple in the early 80's. My father and mother are about your age.
I know nothing of Autodesk but have used DesignCad for several years to make plans for anything I wanted to build. It will export DXF files but I never really need those. It gives me a chance to check interferences and be assured that I have a proper materials list before I start a new project in the real world. I am using the drawings I made with it to build my own house and have had few issues with missed details so far. Even something as simple as laying out flooring economically can be done and I can print out my results to be able to follow them. Databases are a breeze and spreadsheets are not too tough. I hardly ever open the calculator on my PC because XL is so easy to use and has tons more functions. On the other hand "Word" can be a challenge because I am no writer. It is not that I don't know how to write coherent sentences but that I am pretty darned unimaginative.
