A dusting if snow. Which is supposed to continue throughout the day. It is nice to not look at mud.

Some light snow here also, temps in the low 30s now, around 50 by afternoon. Spring is trying to break winter's grip...

A couple of maple splits in the stove to chase the dampness away.

The turkey buzzards are here, the geese are flying overhead, but the crocuses will be a bit yet.

Absolutely beautiful, sunny day. Went upstairs at 7:30 and the light pouring in the eastern windows on the third floor made the entire stairwell on the second floor shine in brilliant reflected light. First time that has happened this year. Spring is on its way....

It was around 22 this morning so we loaded the liberty up with more Cherry, I think our high today was about 42, the sun made it feel like 60.

We'll be burning another load of Cherry tonight, I think they have us hitting 15 degrees.

The high here was 30. Accuweather said 34, but my thermometer didn't agree.:tears: But it was a beautiful day. Some snow gone at the edge of the woods along the drive. Took advantage of the crisp top on the snow and gathered some of the saplings cut along the road in late Autumn. Now I feel like I have ticks running all over me. Amazing what the imagination can do (I hope).

Saw several huge V's of geese flying high overhead. At one point a huge V was folloed by a similar size one, which caught up to the first, flew inside the V, then the lead goose flew into the right arm of the V and that entire V gradually merged into the first V. Near the front of the V. Interesting. I wondered whether that second V was drafting off the first.

Had a pileated hard at work in trees near the yard this afternoon. Phoebes and Barred owls calling a lot today. Also some bird I didn't see and don't know. A sort of tremulous deep whooo. Not a call that would carry very far. Nothing like the distance a barred owl call carries.

I lit off a fire in the basement tonight. A bit of a chill down here in the workshop. Any excuse, right?

It was in the 30's with rain and sleet this afternoon. Yuk. Lit some cherry, ash, norway maple and beech to take the chill off. I didn't burn anything yesterday or last night. My wife said the house was cold this morning. I'll have the place warm tomorrow morning.
