I use powdered graphite originally intended as a speedo cable lube… old MOPAR stuff from the 50's.

Big Heats did a little better. The stove we still going after 30 lbs but the the flame was just holding. I have some Nature's Heat in there now but am thinking I have a 25-30 lb usable hopper in this thing.

Well these Natures Heat slid nicely. Less than 5lbs left in the hopper!!

A few pics I took a couple times my stove went out due to no pellets... :picard:

That is AFTER I improved things with aluminum tape. You can see in the last one that the fines tend to accumulate near the auger and pack the pellets together like mortar making a nice solid wall, or hole I should say.

Not good. That PAH is supposed to hold 120# how much is left over there?

Luckily the PAH holds a lot! Never actually measured it, but judging by how much I put in when I refill I'd say on average there is 1/2 to about a full bag left in the hopper. If I keep the hopper full its usually not an issue. Its when I forget to top it off before going to work, or come home from a nightshift and go straight to bed. I've measured nearly 3 bag consumption on the coldest days, and a good 2 bags on the average Jan-Feb day, so I don't have a lot of cushion with my 14hr door to door time at work.

Has anyone talked to England about this? That's about the worst I've seen.

Well in all fairness, using Somersets I get maybe a couple pounds left in the hopper after I did the aluminum tape. Those are TSC horse bedding pellets... very 'packy'. Though with an untreated hopper even Somersets would build up 10-20 lbs. worth occasionally.

I was just about to comment on the large amount of fines evident in the pic of the pellets, but now I know why. I bet if you made a vacuum fines remover that problem would be a lot less.

Vacuum fines remover? Never heard of such a thing. But yeah if there was an [easy-ish] way to remove the fines would greatly improve things.

T-Stew There is a thread on the forum where I listed all the parts needed to build one. Try searching "vacuum pellet cleaner", or something like that.
