We finally got cold enough temps to exercise the Fireview. It is cruising along with stove top temp of 430 with a fat load of pine Currently -2 outside and nice balmy 75 inside. Wife looks pretty warm and I can't seem to pry the dog off the hearth.
It's cold and getting colder here in OR. In the teens this week, supposedly the coldest in ~4yrs for this time of year. But we're enjoying 75deg inside.
That is amazing that you are running the stove at 430. We have a difficult time keeping our stove down to that sort of temperature. Throw in a couple splits and the temperature rises quickly but rarely roasts us out. But then, we like it nice and warm indoors.
I'm all about conserving wood, but anymore, if its not mid 70's and up inside, I'm not satisfied. Anything under that, wife complains. Then I say to her, " Your spoiled! Back when we had oil heat, it didn't go above 62!"
For sure we like it nice and warm. Hate it if we have to go somewhere in the winter as we almost freeze in other people's homes. Mid 70's here we are looking to put wood on the fire. 62 degrees is nice for working outdoors but not for sitting in a house.
Yep..Was at the sister in laws home and was chilled on Saturday. Sitting in my basement with my gas Woodstock switched off. 78 degrees where I'm sitting. I've grown accustomed to being very warm in the winter. Too many people live in oversized houses and don't want to pay for heat. Silly
I'm about keeping an eye on wood use and how the stove runs but if I use another half cord more in a winter than normal I'm not going to punish myself. We all enjoy the 70's in our wood heated homes, and like some have said with regards to oil heat, you won't see numbers much above 62ish with an oil burner. It's also a good feeling knowing it doesn't matter to me if I use more than normal. Talk about walking on eggshells with an oil tank

I called the missus and she said is was -5. The weather monkeys are forecasting - 15 for the overnight low. It might be a 2 stove night tonight
If I keep a good eye on it and start closing stuff down early enough I can keep the temps down. Otherwise she will run out at 550-650 until the load burns out.
Yep, if I had the 13 installed, I'd be feeding it right now. I put a picture of a stove in the basement, made me feel better.
Gonna feel warm, that's for sure. Be about due to fill the basement wood box, almost to warm to work LOL
